Summary:


The Systems Manager is responsible for leading the enterprise systems administration team and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of Century Aluminum’s global server, storage, cloud, messaging, and end-user computing environments. This role provides both technical leadership and people leadership, guiding daily operations while driving strategic initiatives that support business objectives.

The Systems Manager will oversee the administration of VMware, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure cloud, enterprise storage platforms, and associated infrastructure technologies. This position partners closely with other members of IT leadership, business stakeholders, and site personnel to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available technology solutions across all Century Aluminum locations. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with long-term planning, mentoring team members while leading projects that enhance the organization’s technology capabilities.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop, mentor, and lead the Systems Administration team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for enterprise infrastructure systems.
  • Establish priorities, allocate resources, and ensure successful execution of operational and project-based initiatives.
  • Partner with IT leadership to develop technology roadmaps and infrastructure strategies that support business growth.
  • Supervise other IT staff as directed.
  • Provide VMware ESXi 7 and above support, configuration and administration across multiple sites.
  • Provide Exchange 2019 and above email support, configuration and administration including Exchange Online.
  • Provide Active Directory 2016 domain level and above support, configuration and administration.
  • Provide EMC Unity SAN’s, Data Domain, and ECS support, configuration and administration.
  • Design and deploy company Group Policy Objects and utilize other Active Directory tools.
  • Provide support and administration for all other assigned Enterprise applications: Microsoft MECM / Intune, Microsoft SharePoint, Veeam Backup, Microsoft Teams, and Entra ID.
  • Manage all Enterprise servers, including domain controllers, global catalog servers, email servers, VMware hosts and all associated hardware.
  • Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to Active Directory, Exchange, VMware and Storage.
  • Provide support for all Cloud infrastructure (Azure governance, cost management, landing zones, and resources management, etc.)
  • Provide support for Service Desk system support, configuration and administration
  • Participates in planning and designing technologies to meet the growing needs of the business.


Requirements


Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Technical Experience

  • Minimum: 7+ years
  • Preferred: 10+ years

Management Experience

  • Minimum: 1+ years
  • Preferred: 3+ years

Manufacturing Experience

  • Minimum: None
  • Preferred: 3+ years

Training / Certifications

  • Minimum: None
  • Preferred: MCSE, Microsoft 365 Administrator, or VCP

Other Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience at the expert level as a Systems Administrator
  • Experience managing multiple projects while maintaining daily operational support
  • VMware 6.5–8.0 configuration and administration
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 through current version configuration and administration
  • Exchange 2016 and Microsoft 365 configuration and administration
  • Microsoft Active Directory 2016 domain-level configuration and administration
  • EMC Unity, Nimble SAN, and ExaGrid storage configuration and administration
  • Microsoft Office 2016 through Microsoft 365 configuration and administration
  • Microsoft MECM and SharePoint configuration and administration
  • Manage Engine Endpoint Central and SolarWinds Service Desk configuration and administration
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic IT plans and goals
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information in layman's terms, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience researching hardware, software, and networking products to resolve critical issues
  • Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure development, operations, and security
