Opening Summary

This role partners with Account Executives to help customers solve complex communications challenges using Unimax tools and solutions. In this customer-facing, revenue-focused role, you will co-sell throughout the customer journey, design and recommend solutions, guide technical evaluations, broker proof-of-concept activities, and help organizations make confident decisions about managing modern unified communications environments.

This is not a role for someone who delivers scripted product demos; great Sales Engineers are storytellers at heart. We are looking for an experienced Sales Engineer who can connect customer discovery to purposeful demonstrations, practical solution design, and business outcomes.

Why This Role Exists

This role helps prospects and customers understand what is possible, make sense of their current environment, evaluate the right solutions, and achieve stronger outcomes through better buying and customer experience.

Unimax sells technical solutions to teams responsible for the communication experience of entire organizations. Our customers are often managing complex, hybrid environments that include platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco (CUCM, Webex Calling), Zoom, Avaya, phone number management, reporting, moves/adds/changes, migrations, calling data analysis, and related communication workflows.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in discovery conversations to understand customer objectives, technical environments, operational pain points, buying drivers, and success criteria.
  • Design and recommend solution approaches that align Unimax capabilities with customer needs.
  • Deliver purposeful demonstrations, workshops, and solution presentations tailored to the customer, not generic harbor-tour demos.
  • Co-sell alongside Account Executives throughout the sales cycle and customer lifecycle.
  • Guide technical evaluations, broker proof-of-concept activities, validate requirements, document outcomes, and demonstrate business value.
  • Build trusted relationships with prospects, customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Meet with customers alongside Account Executives for periodic wellness checks, customer reviews, expansion discussions, and value conversations, typically one to two times per year per customer where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering by sharing customer feedback, enhancement requests, competitive insights, and market observations.
  • Develop and improve demonstration environments, technical assets, training materials, and customer-facing content.
  • Represent Unimax at select trade shows, conferences, webinars, and customer-facing events, likely one to two events per year.

What Success Looks Like

  • You are humble, hungry, and smart. You do not need to know everything, but you should be curious, motivated, self-aware, and committed to helping the team win.
  • You know that great demonstrations are earned through discovery. You do not show a little bit of everything and hope the customer notices something useful.
  • You can read the room and adjust your level of detail for technical administrators, IT leaders, business stakeholders, executives, and channel partners.
  • You share knowledge naturally and concisely. You make complicated topics easier to understand without overwhelming the audience.
  • You are comfortable contacting a customer directly after a call when it is appropriate, while keeping the Account Executive aligned.
  • You show up prepared for customer meetings, partner conversations, interviews, and internal discussions. You do reasonable self-directed research before the conversation begins.
  • You are professional, reliable, and technically credible in remote customer-facing environments. Strong audio, video, connectivity, and meeting presence matter in this role.
  • You understand that exceptional buying experiences come from strong collaboration between Account Executives and Sales Engineers.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer-facing technical sales role such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Consultant, Presales Engineer, or a highly similar role.
  • Prior experience serving as the technical representative for a sales team and supporting quota-carrying sellers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Cisco CUCM, Cisco Webex Calling, Zoom, or similar UC/collaboration platforms.
  • Understanding of hybrid communication environments, especially in larger organizations with complex IT, telecom, UC, or collaboration estates.
  • Practical examples of helping customers evaluate solutions, understand technical options, and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a remote environment with frequent prospect, customer, partner, sales, and leadership conversations.
  • Ability to navigate and influence Product, Engineering, Support, leadership, and partners to best serve Unimax customers.
  • A professional communication style, sound judgment, and the confidence to represent Unimax directly with customers.
  • Candidate will reside in the United States.

Helpful Experience, But Not Required

  • Experience with the operational headaches of managing enterprise communications tool suites.
  • Exposure to user provisioning, moves/adds/changes, phone number management, migrations, reporting, CDR/call detail reporting, call accounting, or related administration workflows.
  • Experience working with resellers, integrators, channel partners, or enterprise IT organizations.
  • Knowledge of UC management solutions, including CDR-oriented products such as Sentinel, is a plus.

How We Work

  • This role reports directly to the Director of Sales and will work day-to-day with the Account Executives.
  • The sales and leadership teams operate in a highly collaborative, camera-forward remote environment. Comfort with video-based relationship building is important for this role.
  • You will be part of the revenue team, not a back-office technical resource. You will help shape prospect and customer conversations and opportunity strategy.
  • Customer trust matters. Preparation, responsiveness, follow-through, and professional presence are foundational expectations.
  • We sell direct but also use a reseller route to market, so you should be comfortable speaking with partners as well as direct customers and prospects.
  • A college degree is not required if you have meaningful practical experience and strong proof of capability.

Compensation and Travel

  • Compensation will include base pay plus a variable component tied to team success.
  • 20% of compensation will be tied to the sales team's quota attainment.
  • The role is remote within the United States.
  • Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, partner events, and one to two industry events per year, such as Cisco Live or Microsoft Ignite.
