Spero Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support our growing professional services organization serving federal and government-sector clients. This role is responsible for managing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, compliance, and operational reporting, while partnering closely with leadership to improve processes and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for employees and consultants, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and aging reports.
• Oversee accounts payable, vendor invoices, payment processing, and reconciliations.
• Maintain compliance with payroll, tax, and financial regulations and support audit readiness.
• Analyze financial and operational data, prepare reports, and provide insights to leadership.
• Identify and implement process improvements across payroll, AR, AP, and operations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Recruiting, Sales, and Delivery teams to support hiring, onboarding, payroll, and client billing activities.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, finance, or business operations.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, staffing, or professional services environments is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and payroll/accounting systems such as ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or NetSuite.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
