Legal Counsel (Commercial)

Position: Member of Legal Staff, Commercial Counsel

Type: Full-time

Compensation: $350K - $420K/yr

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week

Role Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, focusing on data licensing and technology agreements.
• Support commercial matters including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs.
• Partner with internal teams to translate legal and contractual risk into business-oriented recommendations.
• Develop a deep understanding of the company s products, business model, and data flows.
• Navigate novel legal and commercial questions with limited precedent, exercising strong judgment.
• Build and improve contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and self-service resources.
• Identify opportunities to streamline legal operations through AI-enabled contract review and automation.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Strong academic credentials and foundational legal training.
• Significant experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial and technology agreements.
• Excellent legal judgment and ability to distinguish between theoretical and material business risks.
• Ability to quickly understand technical products, business models, and unfamiliar legal areas.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a high bar for clarity and precision.
• Strong intellectual curiosity and adaptability.
