FAB shareholders approve AED7.8 bn cash dividend at AGM First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) will pay out AED7.8 billion in cash dividend for 2023, its highest shareholder payout since 2020 The decision on this was approved by the bank’s shareholders at its annual general meeting (AGM), the bank said. The dividend will amount to AED0.71 per share. First Abu Dhabi Bank to triple China business revenue by 2026 All FAB shareholders registered as on March 15 will be entitled to cash dividends. Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of FAB, said the UAE once again proved itself to be a haven of economic and financial stability, recording sound growth and an acceleration of the country’s strategy for strategic diversification. “Within this framework, the banking sector remains well capitalised with ample reserves of liquidity to back its ambitious expansion plans,” he said. Al Nahyan said against the backdrop of a more challenging global financial and economic environment in 2023, First Abu Dhabi Bank came through the year with a resilient and robust performance. “Our task in 2024 is to consolidate and extend the bank’s position as the UAE market leader, build on its strong credit rating and depth of capital resources, and enhance our strong international network to accelerate growth and become a global financial powerhouse with the strongest franchise in the region,” he said. “Dubai Holding refinanced a 30 billion dirham ($8.2 billion) loan to replace older facilities at the two state-backed developers it absorbed last month, better positioning itself to capitalize on a boom in the city’s real estate market. The funding will refinance debt held by the firms — Nakheel and Meydan — according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The deal helped secure more favorable terms for the debt, with Emirates NBD Bank PJSC and Mashreqbank PSC underwriting the loan, they said.  (…) The recent moves, orchestrated by Dubai Holding Chief Executive Officer Amit Kaushal, could potentially be a precursor to an eventual listing of some of the conglomerate’s units over the next few years, according to two of the people. Kaushal, who took over as CEO in 2018 after stints at global banks including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and UBS Group AG, is looking to cut costs at the combined entity and streamline operations, the people said.  (…) Nakheel is among developers that have benefitted from the surge, capping a turnaround for the firm that was at the center of the 2009 property crash that nearly bankrupted Dubai. Over the past few months, its new developments have drawn throngs of buyers — some of them queuing up for $5 million homes.  Meydan’s real estate projects also include villas, townhouses and apartments. The firm had total debt of about $4 billion as of 2021, of which $2.6 billion required restructuring, Bloomberg News reported at the time.”

The ValuStrat Price Index for September 2024 improved by 2.1 per cent monthly, reaching 190.1 points, slightly slower than August’s growth of 2.2 per cent. Annually, the valuation-based index was up by 28.9 per cent. Villas reached 243.2 points, while apartments recorded 155.4 points, both benchmarked against a base of 100 points set in January 2021. The ValuStrat Price Index or the VPI, is a valuation-based price index constructed to represent periodic change in capital values and rental values experienced by typical residential and commercial properties. The VPI for Dubai’s residential capital values is updated on a monthly basis. Abu Dhabi-based Shorooq Partners has launched a new $100 million venture debt fund and hit its first close, the firm announced on Thursday. The details of how much the firm has raised in the first close were not disclosed. It is Shorooq’s second debt fund. The first was launched over three years ago in partnership with Korean venture capital and private equity firm IMM Investment Global (IMMG), and has been fully deployed now, with investments in firms like Pure Harvest and Tamara. For its second ‘private credit’ fund, Shorooq has partnered again with Korean firm, which is joining the fund as a minority partner, according to a statement by Abu Dhabi-based investor. The statement by Shorooq noted that the ventures their first debt fund invested in have “emerged as leaders in their respective sectors, underscoring the impact of Shorooq Partners’ and IMMG’s credit facility in fueling innovation and driving economic growth.” It also hinted that the fund will invest in Series A+ companies operating in the manufacturing, financing, and software services space, with an average ticket size of $10 million+.
