BPLF is dedicated to promoting the Boise Public Library system as an inclusive community gathering place. We raise funds and awareness to support Library programs, services, and innovations not covered by the city budget — everything from youth robotics kits and VR equipment to the annual Boise Comic Arts Fest and the "1,000 books before kindergarten" initiative.
As a lifelong library lover and longtime literacy volunteer, I’m proud to help advance the Foundation’s mission of connecting people to ideas, information, and each other. -

We start in a classroom setting with monthly themes, then break out into one-on-one or small-group tutoring to make the content as relevant as possible to each student's daily life. Tutoring can span from learnings seeing English for the first time, to more advance students working toward a GED or becoming a U.S. citizen. It's a weekly commitment (8-10 hours per month).
I have also led the content strategy on LinkedIn since May 2018 and have grown the follower base 6x. I advise the team on other social platforms as well.
I joined the advisory council in October 2018 and provide credibility, information and advice to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and staff members around funding opportunities as well as keeping the organization well-connected and grounded in the Boise community. -

Initially invited to serve on the Local Organizing Committee when the Big Sky Conference selected Boise to host its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, I contributed to planning and executing the inaugural 2019 event—bringing both local insight and college athletics experience to the table. I helped shape the fan and team experience, from big-picture brainstorming to operational logistics, as we hosted 18 tournament games in 5 days.

Since 2020, I’ve returned annually as the Press Conference Coordinator, overseeing the setup and flow of all post-game media sessions. Responsibilities include coordinating with sports information directors, ensuring media access and AV readiness, preparing and escorting coaches and athletes, managing NCAA protocols, and serving as moderator for each press conference. It’s a role that demands professionalism, quick judgment, and composure under time pressure—especially during tightly scheduled game slates.
This ongoing volunteer work allows me to stay connected to college athletics while contributing to a nationally recognized event that showcases Boise as a premier host city. -

I have managed the entire yearbook creation process for both elementary schools, each having a student body of ~350. This effort involved photo collection, layout design, student engagement, and final production, culminating in a professionally printed book cherished by students, teachers, and staff.

Work included organizing photo submissions from faculty, staff, and parents; curating content to reflect each school’s diversity and spirit; and designing all pages using yearbook software (Entourage). initiatives included mentoring student photographers and coordinating a student-designed cover art contest. Tasks covered designing voting forms, handling layout approvals, and coordinating with printers. After being part of a team at Lowell, I built processes from scratch at Collister, managing deadlines independently, keeping the PTO board appraised of progress, and ensuring cross-grade representation across 36-48 pages each year.
This role combined creativity, project management, and community engagement—balancing a 100-hour annual workload while delivering a high-quality, inclusive, and memory-filled keepsake. Beyond technical execution, it fostered school pride, honored the student experience, and became a tradition families looked forward to each spring. -

I joined the group just in time for the 2016 event and oversaw the green room, managing the comfort and security of the space for the presenters to prepare, relax and focus on delivering their performances. For 2017 and 2019 events, I expanded the content strategy for all 4 social profiles to become year-round, and grew the overall follower base 20%, while improving engagements per post 3x in the 4 months leading up to the event. I also introduced live coverage to engage with in-person and online audiences, and kept the momentum going post show to bridge the 6-week gap between event and when videos became available.
In 2018, I added managing the backlog of English transcriptions that were needed, so that the talks could then be translated into other languages by volunteers around the world. This included creating a marketing plan to solicit volunteers (and mentor them through the process), planning a transcribe-a-thon event to eliminate the backlog, and communicating with admins of Amara software system to coordinate our efforts within the greater TED community.
While in this role, 62 talks and performances were transcribed in English, with 187 translations across 20 languages. These videos had been viewed more than 9.2 million times. -

I provided one-on-one tutoring for adults to build reading, writing, and math skills, developing individualized lesson plans based on each learner’s goals—whether that meant passing a GED test, improving workplace communication, or reading with their children. I adapted instruction to different learning styles and levels, often incorporating real-life materials like job applications, grocery ads, or driving manuals.
