Microsoft is making passkeys the default authentication experience in Microsoft Entra ID from September 1, 2026. The bigger deadline is February 1, 2027, when Microsoft-provided SMS and voice authentication delivery retires in Entra ID. For Microsoft 365 tenants, this should be treated as an identity-security migration project, not a last-minute setting change.
