Now hiring: the TLC is recruiting a Senior Associate Director of Instructor Engagement and Educational Development to lead our educational development programs, services, and resources promoting inclusive excellence in teaching across undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. They will develop initiatives that strengthen instructor engagement through workshops, consultations, learning communities, classroom observation programs, teaching resources, and pedagogical pathways that support continuous instructional improvement. Exposure to new perspectives creates an opportunity to learn how to engage in dialogue with those who hold different or opposing viewpoints. That is why educators across UCLA are learning methods that welcome disagreement and discomfort into their teaching as opportunities for growth. Building the capacity to foster productive dialogue in the classroom is a key outcome of the Dialogue across Difference Faculty Fellows program, which recently honored the second cohort of participants who have successfully completed the year-long community of practice. Over the past year, these committed instructors practiced a range of dialogue skills and teaching strategies to support the values of intellectual engagement, curiosity, empathy, active listening, and critical thinking.
