About us

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) is a 731-bed hospital providing the highest level of adult and pediatric emergency medical and trauma services, a regional high risk Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, an ACS-verified Burn Trauma Center, a Primary Stroke Center, a CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center, emergency and acute inpatient psychiatric services, as well as a range of other specialized services – in some cases the only such treatment in the region. SCVMC also offers high-quality clinical training experiences for more than 30 healthcare professions, including exceptional clinical training for more than 1,000 Registered Nurses annually. The medical center hosts five highly competitive residency training programs and partners with Stanford University School of Medicine for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties. The County of Santa Clara owns and operates Santa Clara Valley Healthcare, which is comprised of O’Connor Hospital, Regional Medical Center, St. Louise Regional Hospital, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, along with a network of primary and specialty clinics. Custody Health Services is also a part of SCVH, providing medical attention to those under the County of Santa Clara’s care. The hospitals and clinics are operated by the County under a consolidated license from the California Department of Public Health. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare is part of the broader County of Santa Clara Health System.

  • Congratulations to Linda Nguyen from our laboratory for being recognized by the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors as an Employee Excellence Award Honoree for January. As manager of hematology and coagulation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Linda regularly reviews processes, works to standardize procedures, and trains staff. Her efforts have brought several critical tests in house that have led to decreased turnaround time and costs. Linda is committed to providing excellent care for patients and she sets an example through her diligent work ethic and nurturing respect for her staff.
