Last week, I had the opportunity to co-present with Johnathon Grammer, VP of Operations Support at Rogers-O'Brien Construction, on our Team Health initiative at the Texas A&M Construction Science Department's 3rd Innovation and Research Symposium. We launched this team health effort earlier this year with a simple goal: to help construction contractors use AI to gain unprecedented insight into how their teams collaborate — and turn those insights into more predictable project outcomes. This work represents a true industry–university partnership, developed in close collaboration with Rogers-O'Brien Construction, Procore Technologies, and American Contractors Insurance Group (ACIG). A sincere thank you to Todd Wynne for the trust he placed in us, and to Terry Mullis, Johnathon Grammer, Sarvesh Rajasekaran, Matthew Summers, CSP, CHST, Hernan Guerra and many others across these organizations for their continued support. I’m proud to be part of a strong research team alongside my faculty colleagues, David Jeong and Zofia K. Rybkowski, and our graduate students, Yuxin Zhang, Farouq Sammour, and Ashwath Vijayabaskaran. Their contributions have been essential to moving this work forward. I’m excited to see where this work goes next — and to grow it into a larger, sustained effort that helps the construction industry build stronger teams and deliver better projects.

A big thank you to Ryan Powell and Jonathan Pugh with Rogers-O’Brien Construction for taking the time to provide a very informative tour of the Honcho project in College Station. It is always valuable to get out on an active project and see firsthand how the planning, coordination, and construction processes come together in the field. Ryan and Jonathan provided great insight into the project, the challenges the team is managing, and the construction methods being used to bring the project to life. Opportunities like this are a great reminder of the importance of maintaining a strong connection between construction education and industry practice. The willingness of industry professionals to share their knowledge and experience provides tremendous value to construction educators and, ultimately, to the students we are preparing to enter the industry.
