As we reflect on over a decade of impact of RESOLVE's Quick Response Fund for Nature (QRFN), we're proud to share the story of our partnership with Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka's Preserving Land and Nature Trust (PLANT).
🌱 QRFN was one of the earliest supporters of PLANT, providing three grants over the past five years to help protect critical habitat for rare and threatened species. Our first grant secured a 17-hectare forest with exceptional biodiversty value, protecting more than 140 species, including 45 threatened species. While the conservation value of the site itself was significant, the broader impact was even greater: it helped validate PLANT's vision of pioneering private conservation and creating forest corridors to reconnect fragmented habitats across Sri Lanka.
⚡ That early support proved catalytic. Today, PLANT works across 35 locations, collaborates with more than 40 partners, protects habitat for over 1,300 species—including more than 130 Critically Endangered and Endangered species—and has established over 50 kilometers of forest corridors linking ecologically sensitive areas. Their work is helping conserve species including the Serendib Scops Owl, Sri Lankan Leopard, Indian Pangolin, and Sri Lankan Elephant.
As Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, Chairman of PLANT, reflects:
“When almost no one had faith in our vision, it was QRFN who demonstrated confidence in us by funding our very first land purchase, which proved catalytic... It became a trigger point for other donors and partners to feel confident about the project and our ambitions... Their trust has helped transform a national agenda.”
🌳 This is exactly what QRFN aims to do: identify high-impact conservation opportunities, move quickly when timing matters, and provide catalytic funding that empowers local conservation leaders to achieve far greater outcomes than any single grant could accomplish alone.

As we look back on over a decade of impact for RESOLVE’s Quick Response Fund for Nature (QRFN), we are proud to highlight our partnership with Fundación ProAves in Colombia.
🤝🌳Over the years, QRFN has helped ProAves create and expand three critical reserves — El Paujil, Las Tangaras, and El Dorado — providing timely, catalytic funding for urgent conservation opportunities.
🦜🐒 Amid threats of deforestation and habitat fragmentation, QRFN grants have helped safeguard unique ecosystems, strengthen ecological connectivity, and protect vital habitat for some of Colombia’s most threatened wildlife, including the Blue-billed Curassow (Critically Endangered), Variegated Spider Monkey (Critically Endangered), and endemic birds including the Gold-ringed Tanager (Vulnerable) and Black-and-gold Tanager.
⚡This video shares a glimpse of what can be achieved when rapid action meets local leadership.

We Need Lithium and Conservation
At RESOLVE, we believe working collaboratively to find solutions is what makes durable conservation outcomes possible, especially where critical minerals development and nature intersect.
RESOLVE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HiTech Minerals Inc. (a 100%-owned U.S. subsidiary of Jindalee Lithium Limited) to explore the creation of a voluntary Stewardship Area in the Oregon-Nevada McDermitt Caldera region.
As an independent, nonpartisan organization, we will convene stakeholders and rightsholders to identify the landscapes that warrant protection, restoration, or other stewardship measures, and HiTech, subject to their project moving forward, will look to invest in creating the Stewardship Area.
The work is just beginning. Any future Stewardship Area will be shaped through engagement with Tribal Nations and other stakeholders, and subject to the success of the ongoing permitting. The Stewardship Area is voluntary and builds on HiTech's existing environmental and regulatory commitments.
