This school year, Raise the Future is collecting donations to fill 60 backpacks - one for each youth on our current Colorado caseload. Each $100 donation sponsors a backpack customized to a specific child's interests and filled with both back-to-school essentials and items just for fun. For youth who've navigated foster care or adoption, the message matters just as much as the supplies: you matter, and we see you. Goal: 60 backpacks Deadline: July 20, 2026 How to give: Scan the QR code. For those who donate, we're also hosting a Pack the Backpacks volunteer hour on August 6th from 12–1pm at our Denver office. Our newest Colorado Youth Connections Advocates, Miguel Sanchez, Leticia Dias, and Cameron Hunter, along with Manager Laura Rivera, recently traveled to Ohio to attend the Child-Focused Recruitment Model Classroom Training hosted by our amazing partners at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption   This training equips our team with additional tools and strategies to help connect youth in foster care with caring, committed adults who can make a lifelong difference. Champions for Children was an incredible and inspiring reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for youth and families. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, volunteers, golfers, and banquet guests, we raised an incredible $454,450 in support of Raise the Future's mission. We are especially grateful to REMAX , Direct Travel , @wendys, @americanairlines, @united, @delta, @enterprise, American Furniture Warehouse , and @prize_possessions. Your partnership, generosity, and commitment to our mission helped make Champions for Children an incredible success. Throughout the event, we were reminded why this work matters: it only takes one caring adult to change a young person's life. Together, we are helping create the connections our youth deserve. "We let the kids know we're not here to replace their parents. They still want to have that relationship with their bio family, and we want to support that" Right now, there are approximately 3,600 children in foster care across Colorado, and the need for foster families continues to grow.  Thank you, CBS Colorado and Mekialaya White , for highlighting this important need and helping raise awareness for youth in foster care.  To learn more about becoming a foster parent, visit raisethefuture.org.
