Excited to announce that Applied Quantum Software (AQS) has officially secured our certification through Global Quantum Intelligence, LLC and Nexus. Congrats to Tom Finke and team! We took a look at their architecture, and their execution is good - they are building an AI-driven quantum platform designed for institutional finance. Instead of theoretical demos, they built what is called AQS FabriQ, it's a Bloomberg-style workspace that connects existing enterprise systems to quantum backends. It allows quant teams, and even autonomous AI agents, to run risk models and pricing optimizations side-by-side on classical and quantum solvers using live market data. It has been built by operators who have actually scaled systems at BlackRock and Visa, they know that finance requires strict compliance and data residency and they have the traction to prove their approach works: they are already deploying with a regulated quant hedge fund in SF and running a live pilot with a Chicago trading firm. We built the Nexus/GQI Verification engine to separate the science projects from the enterprise-ready powerhouses. AQS just proved exactly which category they belong in. QCR Weekly Strategic Overview — August 16–22, 2026 This week, the more interesting question wasn’t who announced another #quantum milestone. It was where quantum infrastructure is starting to look more like infrastructure. IBM is linking modular cryogenic cells as part of its path toward multi-chip systems and Starling. Rigetti Computing created a dedicated Systems Delivery organization to separate processor R&D from manufacturing and deployment. Diraq opened its first U.S. lab at Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, while QpiAI opened an 8-inch quantum chip foundry in Bengaluru targeting 10,000-qubit QPUs. That manufacturing push is showing up elsewhere too. Cornell University demonstrated a tantalum deposition process at 200°C, potentially making superconducting qubit fabrication more compatible with semiconductor manufacturing. Infleqtion opened its Colorado headquarters and announced a 2027 quantum sensing field test for critical-mineral mapping. Dirac Labs raised $1.8M to commercialize diamond-based quantum navigation sensors. The deployment layer is becoming more tangible. NTT DOCOMO put its second D-Wave quantum optimization application into live telecom operations, reporting a 65.3% reduction in peak location-registration signaling. IonQ is expanding Canadian cloud access through CMC Microsystems, while Quantinuum is expanding its Albuquerque R&D operation with public funding. FormationQ and the STFC Hartree Centre are working on structured enterprise adoption across quantum, AI and HPC. Security is developing in parallel. Crypto4A Technologies achieved FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validation for its quantum-safe HSM module. Allot is leading Israel’s new Post-Quantum Communications Consortium, while Eclypses and Sterling are targeting payload-level PQC protection across U.S. federal systems. And there are signs that the application stack is becoming less dependent on actual QPUs. OTI Lumionics and Samsung Semiconductor Advanced Institute of Technology demonstrated 200+ logical-qubit emulation on a single server, while Quantum X Labs reported beating PyMatching benchmarks on Google’s surface-code dataset using NVIDIA CUDA-Q. Research is still moving quickly: Caltech demonstrated direct measurement of conformal-field-theory spectra on a neutral-atom simulator, while Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University established a 13-mile free-space quantum network link. What stands out is the coordination between layers. Fabrication, cryogenics, deployment, cloud access, enterprise integration, networking, PQC, sensing and workforce development are increasingly being built as connected pieces rather than isolated technical projects. Financial & corporate performance: Quantinuum reported Q2 revenue up 279% YoY following its $1.7B IPO, while Infleqtion reported 116% YoY revenue growth and raised its 2026 guidance to $43M. Quantum Computing Inc. reported $5.55M in Q2 revenue, a 50.4% sequential increase, alongside its acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors, Inc. and expansion of its photonics manufacturing capacity. Industrialization: Quantinuum, Quanta Computer Inc. 廣達電腦, Pasqal, AEPONYX Enterprises inc., Infleqtion, T-SQUARED, SDT Inc. and Open Quantum Design are working across manufacturing, facilities, photonic integration and hardware supply chains. Infrastructure & national strategy: New York State, Utah and Government of Tamil Nadu announced new regional quantum initiatives, while Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada, National Science Foundation (NSF) ASCEND Engine, Montana Photonics & Quantum Alliance and Headwaters Tech Hub are supporting research, testing and commercialization capacity. Cloud, HPC & deployment: Oracle, NVIDIA, EPFL, Yonsei University, IBM, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric are connecting quantum systems with cloud, HPC and enterprise computing environments. Applications & commercialization: Pfizer, D-Wave, Zapata Quantum, QuEra Computing Inc., Strangeworks, Davidson Technologies, Xanadu, University of Alberta, Saab, Aquark Technologies and Royal Navy are applying quantum computing, sensing and timing to pharmaceutical, optimization, defense and navigation problems. Networking & security: Qunnect, Monarch Quantum, BTQ Technologies, ITCEN GLOBAL, QuSecure, Carahsoft and Quantum Optics Jena GmbH are developing quantum networking, PQC deployment and certified quantum communications infrastructure. Talent & research: Quantinuum, Singapore Institute of Technology, University of Guelph, Florida State University, Rice University and USTC are expanding quantum education, research and workforce development. The notable part this week is the simultaneous movement across these layers: hardware manufacturing, regional infrastructure, cloud access, industrial applications, networking, security and talent are all seeing concrete commitments rather than remaining separate ecosystem discussions. Four Quantinuum stories. Four different signals about where the quantum industry is heading. Today, Quantum Computing Report by GQI published four technical stories involving Quantinuum, and I found the combination particularly interesting: • Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric benchmarked approximate and logical QFT on Helios, exploring the practical trade-offs between scaling, error detection, and fault-tolerant operations. • Quantinuum, NVIDIA, and Pfizer demonstrated how generative AI can accelerate quantum circuit synthesis for pharmaceutical research. • EPFL integrated Quantinuum’s quantum computing access directly into its SCITAS HPC platform, bringing quantum resources closer to existing research infrastructure. • Quanta Computer Inc. 廣達電腦 and Quantinuum are working to industrialize trapped-ion hardware manufacturing, addressing one of the less glamorous—but absolutely necessary—parts of scaling quantum computing. Four announcements. Four layers of the ecosystem: algorithms, AI, infrastructure, and manufacturing. And this is exactly why I enjoy working with quantum data. Sometimes the interesting part isn't one announcement on its own, but what starts to emerge when you put several pieces next to each other. QCR Weekly Strategic Overview — August 2–8, 2026 This week’s developments centered on commercial expansion, fault-tolerant architectures, quantum networking, national infrastructure, and early industrial applications. Financial activity remained active across the sector. D-Wave, IonQ, Rigetti Computing, Xanadu, and IQM Quantum Computers reported quarterly results, while JIJ and ZuriQ announced new funding. D-Wave reported $35.5M in H1 bookings, IonQ reported $80.1M in Q2 revenue, and Rigetti announced a $100M CHIPS Act Letter of Intent. Fault-tolerant computing continued to develop across multiple approaches. D-Wave demonstrated a two-qubit gate for dual-rail erasure qubits, Caltech and Oratomic introduced “mitten codes,” Qarakal Quantum unveiled its Pangaea modular architecture, and a UCLA-led consortium received $4M from National Science Foundation (NSF) for a 60-logical-qubit trapped-ion architecture. QuiX Quantum also commercialized its Alquor 2.0 photonic processor platform. IonQ’s completed acquisition of SkyWater Technology also strengthened the focus on vertically integrated quantum hardware and domestic manufacturing. Quantum infrastructure and national programs expanded. Canada launched a $20.3M Quantum Defence Innovation Secure Hub in Calgary, while IonQ and Sandia National Laboratories signed an MOU on quantum co-design for national security. IonQ and EPB also announced a $15M Tennessee quantum communications research center. Thailand launched Quantum Club Thailand, while Fujitsu, Monash University, and CSIRO established an Australia–Japan quantum research partnership. Quantum networking and security saw several practical deployments. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), University of Maryland, and Qunnect demonstrated entanglement over 62 km of metropolitan aerial fiber. Quantum Corridor, Ciena, and Toshiba validated 1.6 Tb/s quantum-safe encryption on live fiber, while ZeroTier and Carahsoft introduced post-quantum software-defined networking for the public sector. Industrial adoption continued to broaden. Honda invested in Quemix Inc. to support quantum applications for battery materials, D-Wave and Nasdaq Verafin began exploring quantum-hybrid approaches to financial crime detection, and Eaton received a $7M AFRL contract with Infleqtion and Penn State for quantum-enabled power-grid security. QC Ware Corp. and IBM also demonstrated a hybrid quantum-classical chemistry workflow. Together, these developments show continued movement from research toward commercial systems, national infrastructure, vertically integrated hardware, and application-specific deployments. Capital formation remained active. ZuriQ secured a $25.5M seed round to scale trapped-ion hardware, while IonQ completed its acquisition of SkyWater Technology, becoming the industry's first vertically integrated full-stack quantum platform. Fault-tolerant computing and quantum performance advanced. IBM and ecosystem partners demonstrated Trusted Quantum Advantage beyond classical supercomputers, HRL Laboratories, LLC unveiled a self-running silicon QPU with integrated cryogenic control, Horizon Quantum Computing partnered with Quantum Machines on real-time calibration, Riverlane and Unitary Foundation launched the Deltakit Community Fund for open-source QEC, and Two Hands began external beta testing of its EntangleX quantum simulator. Quantum networking and communications progressed. QED-C® and Center for Quantum Networks released a commercialization roadmap, Pusan National University and 울산과학기술원 demonstrated hybrid quantum interconnects, ABQ-Net welcomed four quantum companies to validate defense technologies, and QTREX Quantum partnered with Northeastern University to develop cryogenic quantum interconnects. Commercial deployment expanded across industries. IQM Quantum Computers and Deutsche Bahn executed a hybrid railway scheduling algorithm, EY launched an on-site quantum computer hub in Canada, AT&T expanded its collaboration with D-Wave Quantum for telecom optimization and agentic AI, while Cleveland Clinic and IBM advanced quantum machine learning for personalized cancer vaccines. Governments and research institutions strengthened quantum capabilities. The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory outlined strategic quantum priorities, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded UC San Diego $18M for quantum materials research, and Vexlum expanded its UK operations to support quantum laser technologies. Together, this week's developments show the quantum ecosystem advancing across trusted quantum performance, vertically integrated hardware, industrial adoption, and national quantum capabilities. PsiQuantum secured a $125M expanded Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) agreement, Photon Queue raised $4M, Galaxy Digital launched a $5M Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation committed $100M to emerging technology security, the Bloch Quantum Tech Hub secured $55M, and the Israel Innovation Authority רשות החדשנות launched a NIS 100M quantum infrastructure program. Fault-tolerant computing advanced. Infleqtion will deploy Sqale at IQMP, Quantum Elements launched Orbit on Qiskit, QEDMA integrated QESEM with Quantinuum, Rice University joined the DOE Quantum Science Center for QEC, and Quantinuum and SoftBank Group Corp. published a roadmap. Hybrid quantum-HPC expanded. RIKEN activated ROQUO integrating Quantinuum and NVIDIA, IBM committed $50M in QPU access to the DOE Genesis Mission, Infleqtion secured three Genesis Mission awards, and AWS, NVIDIA, Berkeley Lab, and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration introduced a quantum-HPC framework. Quantum infrastructure and manufacturing accelerated. Zero Point Cryogenics and Ability Engineering Technology Inc became the first IQMP FaQtory tenants, Maybell Quantum expanded in New Mexico, Innolume GmbH scaled quantum-dot manufacturing, Hitachi, Intel, and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) launched Japan's silicon quantum processor program, BTQ partnered with TIDAL PWR, and Zhongqi Wuliang unveiled a server-rack neutral-atom quantum computer. Post-quantum cybersecurity remained a commercial focus. Terra Quantum AG and Apex.AI demonstrated PQC for autonomous systems, Keyfactor expanded PQC modernization, Galaxy Digital advanced Bitcoin security, while BTQ Technologies expanded quantum data center architectures. Governments expanded quantum ecosystems. Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) strengthened commercialization, Israel, New Mexico, and Japan expanded infrastructure investment, while IQMP and Quantum STrategic industry Alliance for Revolution(Q-STAR) linked U.S. and Japanese ecosystems through workforce and supply chains. Commercial adoption grew. The Washington Institute for STEM, Entrepreneurship and Research and E.ON advanced quantum machine learning for smart grids, QuantX Labs commissioned the first space optical frequency comb, SAXON Q commercialized diamond quantum computers, Bloq Quantum expanded workforce development in India, and Quantum Computing Inc. and Quantinuum strengthened leadership.
