Getting the right benefits to the right families matters. Our work is paying off. When HR1 changed how states administer the SNAP program, Oklahoma Human Services built on payment accuracy improvements already underway while implementing additional tools, training and oversight to accelerate our efforts. While the official federal payment accuracy rate for 2026 won't be available until next year, early internal monitoring is showing encouraging improvement, with payment error rates trending closer to 6.9%. Watch the full conversation with Oklahoma Human Services Director Jeffrey Cartmell and Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma CEO Stacy Dykstra on KOCO 5's Oklahoma Chronicle with Evan Onstot to learn more about the work behind these improvements and what they mean for Oklahoma families. https://lnkd.in/dcQeHf9k

The opening of McAlester's first sibling foster home marks an important step for children and families in southeast Oklahoma. Created through the partnership of Community of Hope and Circle of Care, it's a purpose-built space that lets brothers and sisters entering foster care remain together. Sibling separation is a quiet but real challenge in child welfare, often driven by nothing more than a shortage of homes large enough to keep siblings under one roof. Homes like this one address that gap directly. We're grateful for partners who show up with practical solutions, and for the foster families who make them work. However, the need extends far beyond McAlester. Circle of Care also has sibling homes ready and waiting in Alva, Enid, Gore, and Shawnee—each one hoping to welcome a family willing to open their hearts to a larger sibling group of three or more. Applications are open now, and families ready to take the first step can begin at https://lnkd.in/dJd5Y3bW.
