From Gen. Steve Nordhaus, chief of the National Guard Bureau: When the world’s biggest sporting event came to the U.S., the National Guard’s Civil Support Teams were ready to defend the homeland. I met with Staff Sgt. Katie Peterson, of the Nebraska National Guard’s 72nd Civil Support Team, who walked me through how her team seamlessly integrated with interagency partners and other states to provide 24/7 CBRNE detection and response during the FIFA World Cup. Together, they protected families from around the world and I know her own daughters are proud of a mom who answers the call so other families can stay safe. That’s what the National Guard is all about. Always Ready, Always There!

For Army National Guard medical leaders, readiness can come down to something as routine as a dental appointment, a hearing test or a medical case that has lingered unresolved. A pilot course brought medical professionals and senior enlisted leaders from across the country together to exchange best practices and identify practical ways to improve medical readiness within their organizations. https://lnkd.in/dxD7pqv5

While fighting the Sinlahekin Fire, a Washington National Guard UH-72 Lakota helicopter gave firefighters a perspective they had never had before during a National Guard wildfire response: an aerial “quarterback” view that helped provide situational awareness and support to crews working on the ground. https://lnkd.in/e6r4pzpu

“The future of warfare is not waiting for us to catch up. It's arriving time now, and the Guard is at the epicenter of it all.” At an annual enlisted National Guard conference, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman (SEAC) David L. Isom emphasized how the Guard’s long-term global partnerships give it a lasting edge over adversaries, warned that today’s operational tempo and the accelerating pace of military technology demand constant adaptation and stressed that taking care of people, not just equipment, must remain the top priority. https://lnkd.in/ebjgdMp9

Speaking at the 55th annual conference of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, Gen. Steve Nordhaus, chief of the National Guard Bureau, and SEA John Raines, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, emphasized the Guard’s dual role as an operational force – at home and abroad - and urged the enlisted force to sustain the Guard’s edge. “You might not think that you’ll be the one who gets that call on any given day,” Raines said. “But the truth of our operational reality is that we generally have more than 40,000 of our National Guard men and women deployed abroad or serving right here in the homeland. You have to stay ready." https://lnkd.in/gkNcUdiU
