The Moriah Energy Center continues to reach significant milestones as construction progresses toward completion, bringing North Carolina (the Triangle) one step closer to enhanced energy reliability and resilience. On July 10, leaders from Enbridge Major Projects and Enbridge Gas North Carolina joined the project team for a final walkthrough inside the liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank before it is permanently sealed. Among those attending were Rusty Harris, President, Enbridge Gas North Carolina, and Anne Moore, Vice President, Major Projects. The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on how far the project has come and recognize the dedication that have driven its success. Standing inside the massive structure served as a reminder of the planning, craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to safety that have been at the heart of every phase of construction. Before the tank is closed, there is one final tradition. Team members sign the inside of the tank, leaving their mark on a project that will help strengthen the Triangle's energy infrastructure for years to come. As construction continues to advance, the team remains focused on the final stages of the project while also approaching another major safe work hours milestone. This achievement reflects the strong safety culture that has guided the work from day one and the commitment of everyone onsite to completing every task safely and responsibly. What does it take to keep liquefied natural gas at -260°F while maintaining ambient temperatures on the outside of the tank? At the Moriah Energy Center, the answer lies in precision engineering and design. Roger Radabaugh, who works for Matrix, Enbridge Gas' Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractor, recently walked through some of the engineering behind the facility’s LNG storage tank, explaining how the tank’s layered construction, insulation system and commissioning process work together to support safe and reliable operations. Matrix was recently an exhibitor at the 4th Annual NW Washington Construction Career Day, hosted by the AGC Education Foundation in Lynden, WA. Over 480 junior and senior high school students and teachers attended, representing 13 local area high schools and career technical education programs. A broad range of local construction companies were in attendance as exhibitors, with many unique hands-on opportunities for students to explore career pathways in the construction and building trades. Matrix introduced students to welding concepts with virtual weld simulators and basic flange assembly and piping system principles with a piping skid designed by the Apprenticeship team for personnel training and community outreach events. Overall, the event was a great opportunity to expose the next generation of workers to career opportunities in our industry!

Our CARES team works to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide ongoing support and training so employees can recognize and address mental health challenges. With suicide rates four times higher than average in our industry, open conversations about mental health are essential—and lifesaving. To close out Mental Health Awareness Month on May 28, Matrix hosted the "More Good Days, Together" panel, where field leaders spoke candidly about the unique mental health challenges facing construction workers. Panelists emphasized that stress, anxiety, and emotional struggles affect everyone, sharing personal experiences and practical strategies for maintaining mental health. The session ended with a challenge: make mental health part of every conversation. The more we talk, listen, and support each other, the stronger our teams—and our industry—will be.
