A true privilege to participate in last week’s IEEE Power & Energy Society’s General Meeting, joining two panel discussions on the role of AI in the power sector, the practical applications of machine learning and AI for utilities, and the impact of these technologies on the future workforce. Inspiring to hear from the brilliant engineers, researchers, and industry leaders who are driving truly remarkable innovations to accelerate the transition toward a fully digitalized grid. Future of power systems will be defined not only by technology, but by the people shaping its adoption. #IEEEPES #AI #DigitalGrid #PowerSystems #Innovation #IEEEPESGM

  • LIPA is thrilled to announce that Moody’s Investors Service revised its ratings outlook from stable to positive, while Fitch and S&P Global have affirmed strong credit ratings.    Independent ratings are important because they recognize LIPA’s strong financial management and reflect our commitment to long-term customer affordability.  The news also reinforces investor confidence in LIPA’s financial position and leads to lower borrowing costs, making critical infrastructure investments in the electric system more affordable. These savings help moderate long-term pressure on electric rates while supporting LIPA’s continued investment in reliability, resiliency, and clean energy while managing costs responsibly for our customers across Long Island and the Rockaways.

  • Congratulations to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County on receiving the prestigious Frances R. Hesselbein Award from the Mutual of America Foundation in recognition of the CAP 10 program's incredible impact. It was an honor for LIPA CEO Carrie Meek Gallagher to join Girl Scouts of Nassau County President Randell Marie Bynum in celebrating this well-deserved achievement. As a former Girl Scout, Carrie knows firsthand the lasting impact the organization has on building confidence, leadership, and a commitment to serving others. The CAP 10 program is helping inspire the next generation by bringing STEM education and leadership opportunities to young people in 10 of Nassau County’s most underserved communities. Congratulations to everyone who made this remarkable achievement possible, and thank you for your continued investment in Long Island’s future.

  • After working through three consecutive days of extreme heat to keep the lights on and protect the reliability of our electric system, PSEG Long Island’s crews, represented by IBEW Local 1049, immediately shifted into storm response when a powerful, fast-moving storm hit our region over the weekend.   While many were spending quality time with family and friends celebrating, these dedicated individuals were answering calls, assessing damage, and working tirelessly to restore power safely and quickly through challenging conditions.   Thank you to all the line workers, tree trimmers, call center employees, dispatchers, operations personnel, and support staff who respond with professionalism, skill, and unwavering dedication. Your commitment to serving our communities makes the difference when it matters most.    #IBEW #LongIsland #Rockaways #LIPA #PSEGLI #PublicPower #NewYork #PowerInUs

Managing infrastructure during extreme weather requires 365-day planning. With the first official heatwave of the summer bringing temperatures of 95°–105°F and heat index values up to 109°F through Saturday, PSEG Long Island is prepared to meet peak demand and respond to any outages. Michael Sullivan, Vice President of Electric Operations, shares our proactive approach to grid reliability: "We have been upgrading equipment, carefully planning to provide sufficient electric capacity to meet peak demand, and positioning our personnel to respond effectively if needed." We urge our commercial and residential partners to prioritize safety during these extreme conditions. Be sure to follow @PSEGLI across all socials this week, where we'll be sharing additional safety and preparedness tips as we get through this extreme heatwave, together.
