K8Studio 4.0.3 is out. This release is focused on making the Kubernetes visualizer smoother, clearer, and more reliable for day-to-day cluster exploration. What’s new: Faster and more stable Visualizer interactions Smoother zoom and pan behavior Cleaner namespace and sub-namespace grouping Better cross-namespace service and ingress connections More reliable filtering, so hidden namespaces do not leave confusing links behind Sharper rendering at the intended zoom limit Safer navigation around cluster-bound views and terminals The goal with 4.0.3 was simple: make the visual map of your cluster easier to trust, easier to read, and less distracting while you work. A Cross-Platform IDE to Manage Kubernetes Clusters
About us
K8 Studio is a cross-platform client IDE to manage Kubernetes Clusters. You can deploy easily to EKS, GKE, AKS, IBM Cloud, or your own bare metal. Connect to your cluster and have a graphical representation of your nodes, pods, services, etc. Access logs, element descriptions, and bash terminal with a single click.

K8Studio 4.0.2 is out. This release is focused on reliability: safer Kubernetes editing, more accurate security reporting, and stronger regression coverage around YAML workflows. What changed: Security Context reporting now resolves effective container and Pod-level values correctly. MITRE/security scan indicators now reflect the real risk of boolean values like runAsNonRoot and allowPrivilegeEscalation. YML tabs now render reliably across Pods, Deployments, Services, RBAC, storage, network resources, cluster-scoped resources, and CRDs. Resource saves now strip server-owned status fields before update, avoiding Kubernetes decoding errors. Pod saves now detect immutable spec changes before sending the request and explain what can actually be changed. Added Playwright and unit coverage for YAML visibility, resource updates, CRDs, security-context resolution, and safe update paths. This is one of those releases that is less about shiny features and more about trust: when you inspect, edit, and apply Kubernetes resources, the tool should behave predictably. We’re excited to share that K8Studio can now integrate with Caretta by Groundcover to provide deeper visibility into Kubernetes cluster traffic. Caretta uses eBPF to automatically map communication between workloads, helping teams see: • Which services and workloads are communicating • How traffic flows across the cluster • Unexpected or potentially risky connections • Dependencies that may be difficult to identify manually By bringing this information into K8Studio, teams can better understand their Kubernetes architecture, investigate networking issues, and troubleshoot cluster behaviour more efficiently. This is another step towards making Kubernetes environments easier to understand, operate, and secure. #Kubernetes #K8s #eBPF #CloudNative #DevOps #PlatformEngineering #Observability #NetworkSecurity #SRE #K8Studio #Groundcover

K8Studio 4.0.0 is out, and it ships the feature we've been working toward longer than any other in the product's history: CloudMaps™, now in beta. Google Maps for Kubernetes. CloudMaps turns your cluster into a live, explorable map. Namespaces appear as islands. Related namespaces group into regions by purpose: monitoring, ingress, platform services, your own applications. Pods aggregate into the workloads that own them, and services, routes, storage, and policies are drawn in context. You zoom from the whole environment down to a single pod's dependencies without ever losing your sense of where you are. This release also brings Gateway API views and clearer workload status across the app. But we want to use this post to talk about CloudMaps, and specifically about the part that took us the longest: making it work on real clusters. The easy demo and the hard problem Every cluster visualization demo looks great with 50 workloads. A force-directed graph, some circles and arrows, done. That version of CloudMaps existed years ago.

K8Studio 3.1.10 is out. This one is a focused Visualizer release. If you use the cluster visualizer regularly, you'll notice the difference immediately. What changed: → Zooming and panning are smoother. The whole-window flicker that could appear during repeated interactions is gone. → High-zoom rendering is sharper. Elements and text stay crisp when you zoom in without the memory overhead of an oversized cache. → Namespace and subgroup containers are visible again — cleaner styling, better dark-mode contrast, no heavy shadows. → Cross-namespace Service and Ingress links are handled consistently. → Filtered views now hide links to namespaces that aren't visible. No more ghost edges pointing to filtered-out resources. → Zoom limits are aligned with the render cache scale, so zooming back out doesn't get stuck. No new features in this one — just the Visualizer working the way it should have been working. Available now. Download at k8studio.io #Kubernetes #DevOps #PlatformEngineering #K8Studio

K8Studio 3.1.9 is out and it ships two features that change how engineers understand what's happening in their clusters. You triggered a rollout. Something went wrong. Now you're running kubectl get events and scrolling through 200 lines trying to figure out what happened and when. K8Studio 3.1.9 ships two features built for exactly that moment. Kubernetes Events Timeline Instead of reading event lists line by line, you see the full history of your cluster as a visual timeline. Events are grouped by resource hierarchy — App → Deployment → ReplicaSet → Pod. Warning events are highlighted. Repeated failures like BackOff or FailedMount are shown across their actual time range. Filter by namespace, severity, and time — and see where warning activity is concentrated at a glance. Kubernetes Object Topology Available from any object's detail view, Topology renders an interactive diagram of the selected resource and everything connected to it — ReplicaSets, Pods, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, PVCs. Hover to follow edges. Pan and zoom freely. Know the blast radius before you make a change. Together they answer the two questions that matter most during any investigation: What happened, and when? → Timeline What is connected to this? → Topology Both features are available in Professional and during the trial. → k8studio.io #Kubernetes #DevOps #PlatformEngineering #SRE #K8Studio

New on the K8Studio website: a complete set of tutorials for configuring cluster authentication 🔐 If you've ever lost an afternoon to a cryptic auth error connecting to EKS, GKE, or AKS, these guides are for you. Step-by-step walkthroughs now live for: • Keycloak OIDC (local kubeconfig) • AWS SSO-backed EKS (exec credential plugin) • EKS exec authentication • GKE (gke-gcloud-auth-plugin) • AKS (kubelogin) Clear, tested, and written for people who manage Kubernetes across multiple clouds. 👉 https://k8studio.io #Kubernetes #DevOps #CloudNative #PlatformEngineering #EKS #GKE #AKS #SSO #OIDC #K8s #SRE

K8Studio 3.1.8 is out 🚀 This release tackles one of the most-requested pain points: managing massive kubeconfig files without drowning in clusters you don't care about. What's new: 🔍 Cluster visibility controls import a huge kubeconfig and hide the clusters you don't need. The tree stays clean, hidden clusters stay available, and your choices persist across sessions. 🔐 Broader cloud auth coverage Keycloak OIDC, AWS SSO-backed EKS, EKS exec, GKE auth plugin, and AKS kubelogin all supported now. EKS, GKE, and AKS contexts even pick up their cloud's branding automatically. 📊 Smoother loading animated skeletons for cluster and workload overviews, so slow API calls no longer look like empty data. 🖥️ Terminal preferences choose integrated or external, set a default, with better shell fallback handling. #Kubernetes #K8s #DevOps #CloudNative #PlatformEngineering
