Geri Fox Towvim spent years inside one of the most selective admissions processes in the world. At Harvard Business School, she helped shape the MBA class itself. She reviewed applications, conducted interviews, sat on the Admissions Board, and co-launched the HBS 2+2 deferred admissions program. Her work centered on one question: who has the potential to become a leader worth betting on? Before admissions, Geri worked on the career side of the Harvard ecosystem, helping top firms recruit MBA talent. She saw firsthand what companies like McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, and Google looked for in future hires, which gave her a rare perspective on both sides of the process. Over time, the work became deeply personal. Every year, thousands of applicants trusted HBS with their stories. Geri became known for spotting the candidates whose potential was not obvious at first glance. The hidden gems. The people with substance beneath polished resumes. Later, she brought that same focus on human potential to edX, helping expand access to high-quality education for learners around the world. Today, Geri coaches applicants through some of the most competitive admissions processes anywhere. Her approach is intensely reflective and highly strategic. She helps clients uncover the themes that define them, sharpen their narrative, and present themselves with clarity alongside performance. One insight from her years in admissions still shapes how she coaches: Many strong candidates are rejected because they never learn how to tell their story authentically. We're lucky to have you on Leland, Geri

Today we are reintroducing Leland to the world. When I founded Leland 5 years ago, I could have never imagined that the most important technological wave in history would have disrupted every career this fast. But it's here, and we are ready and excited to meet the moment. As part of this reintroduction, we're introducing a fresh brand and website, built for the moment we're in. Alongside the refresh, we're officially launching leland . ai, the home for businesses that need to become AI-native fast. Companies can now access: - Training to upskill their people via the AI Builder Program - Services to build agents and AI-native infrastructure - Recruiting solutions to hire AI-native operators We've also announced our pledge to help 100M people learn AI. We've already helped 230,000 people across startups, fortune 100s, growth stage companies, and more. Individual contributors, C-level execs, interns, and managers all coming together to learn and build for the AI era. To be clear: this is not a pivot. It's doubling down on our mission to unlock human potential. Human potential. And I couldn't be more excited to continue helping people and organizations thrive in an AI-first world. So If you're a human trying to build with AI, get a new job, get into school, or reach another important professional goal: Leland is for you. If you are a business trying to become AI-native quickly, level up your people, deploy AI agents internally, and hire AI-native talent: Leland is for you. In the coming months, we will be releasing a flurry of new features, transforming into the career and talent platform for the AI era. This is the beginning.

I just wrapped instructing another cohort of our AI Builder Program Level 1, and my mind is yet again blown by the incredible builds people are creating, especially this "crowd favorite" winner from today. Julianne S. from Angel built from scratch in a matter of hours an entirely new theater seat saver for Angel movie fans, complete with beautiful on-brand graphics, zip code theater lookup using an API, saved user preferences, and more. And this is within days of getting acquainted with Claude Design, Claude in Chrome, etc. The impact of human ideas/direction combined with raw AI horsepower is incredible. AI is unlocking us to do things that would have been impossible months ago. Stoked to see you in Level 2 Julianne, can't wait to see what you build going forward!

Community is everything. I love community, and I have especially loved focusing on how to best build community in this crazy new AI world we are living in. Since the beginning of our time thinking about community Leland, I've tried to get to the root of what makes a community great. Here's what we've landed on: 1. You need a shared goal 2. You need people who genuinely show up for each other to hit it We have baked these thoughts into everything we are building at Leland around AI upskilling. Learning AI can feel really daunting, so this community piece becomes all the more important. We've hosted several in-person AI Builder Nights at Leland HQ now, and watching people collaborate and learn from each other has been so cool. When someone joins a cohort in our official AI Builder Program, they get access to our community channels to share their builds, learnings, prompts/skills and use cases. I've been AMAZED by the collaboration and support. Easily my favorite part of the experience. We want people building (that's where the real progress is made). Being surrounded by other builders is the single biggest motivator to keep exploring and keep creating. Drop a comment below if you'd like to be looped in on future IRL community events, or if you want a discount code for our upcoming AI Builder Program cohort. New sessions kick off next week, and I couldn't be more stoked! ~~~~ Photos included: 1. Our in-person Builder Night @ Leland HQ (building an email and meeting note agent) 2. Andrew Cause offering his prompts and samples to help others in the community of the AI Builder Program. He has been such a positive force there!

One underrated, under recognized (and probably overworked person) in every company? The resident AI expert. The person who is helping everyone else learn and upleveling the whole team or company. Usually on top of a whole separate day job. Make a post recognizing the AI expert at your company who everyone relies on and tag me. I’ll buy them dinner (in the form of a $25 Doordash giftcard). (Pictured below: One our resident AI experts at Leland, Kristen. She has done sooo much to help Leland become AI native.)

Her career didn’t follow a plan; it followed a pull. From the sales floor to the head of global leadership, Shaida's career and now coaching methodology is a masterclass in turning small sparks of curiosity into a growing career of opportunity and impact. Check out her journey from the start: - lands a role at Uber during university, as their first intern in Los Angeles  - makes the move to Silicon Valley to join Oracle - builds a strong foundation in SaaS sales  - interviews for a management role as the most junior candidate - walks in with a full presentation prepared - stands out immediately and gets the job - becomes a first-time manager during a major organizational shift - leads a team at risk, gets majority promoted and moved into new opportunities - keeps expanding in scope and responsibility - becomes Head of Oracle Women’s Leadership for the entire Americas - leads global leadership summits (Austin, Singapore, Amsterdam) - focuses on thought leadership around the future of work - expands into talent development, business storytelling, and executive engagement - earns her Executive MBA from UCLA Anderson while working full time - launches her coaching practice, working with clients all around the world  - joins Leland as a coach  - launches her Substack, Between Now and Next, focused on the future of emerging technology, work, and purpose Shaida's advice: "Trust your inner voice. And when you can’t hear it, get quiet enough to listen. Those small sparks of curiosity? They’re not random. They’re your compass, pointing you toward what’s next. When you learn to follow them, everything starts to open up."
