Developers, this year has already brought a number of changes. New threats, changing trends in production and more debate on what professionals in tech need to consider as we traverse an assisted coding era. No surprise here, but we've also seen a drastic increase in code production volume - which comes with its own challenges. So, we're putting new safeguards and features in place to help you stay secure while you prioritize quality. With this in mind, update to Qodana 2026.2. This release signifies a shift towards the future for our team, and more support for yours. ✅ Post-quantum cryptography checks ✅ Laravel inspections enabled by default ✅ New License Audit quality gates ✅ Better code coverage monitoring ✅ Access to over 140 additional security checks And more. Get the details at the link in the comments or message us to switch to Qodana for less. What else do you want us to be aware of as we plan for the future? And what do you think about what's new in 2026.2?

How are you using AI in your development workflow? It can pack a real punch 🥊 when it’s used as a sparring partner, not a final judge. Why? Because speed without verification is just fast debt. AI can help teams move faster, but developer expertise, testing, and judgment are what turn fast output into quality code.

The JVM has no shortage of powerful backend frameworks. But it still doesn't have an obvious modern model for building server-rendered UIs from reusable, type-safe components. We think that gap is worth exploring. In our latest blog post, Kotlin Developer Advocate Frederik Pietzko takes a concrete look at how Compose HTML could bring this model to the server, including potential integrations with Spring and Ktor. This isn't a roadmap announcement. It's a technical direction we're examining in the open, and we want developers to challenge it. Read the post and tell us what would or wouldn't work in practice.

Hey everyone! I've written a small blog post about the possibility to use compose-html on the server to build fullstack web applications using Kotlin and what integrations into Spring and Ktor might look and feel like! https://lnkd.in/eS6jND-9 Quick Disclaimer: at this point in time this is just something we are exploring together with the community and does not represent an official commitment. But we would nevertheless like to hear your feedback on the topic! Feel free to join the #compose-ssr (https://lnkd.in/eGMk9My4) Slack channel and share your feedback! #Kotlin #SSR #Spring #Ktor

  • Is AI actually raising the bar for developers? Venkat Subramaniam joins The Marco Show to discuss why AI requires more expertise, not less, why “AI first” is the wrong mindset, and why the ability to evaluate and verify solutions is becoming more important than simply producing code. 📺 Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/dt9jZQX5 Also available on your favorite podcast platforms.

  • Programming languages are created by humans, but they take on lives of their own. They are constantly evolving, shaped not only by people’s intentions but also by powerful internal forces that discourage certain ideas and encourage others. They are also fiercely debated because they are more than mere tools. So what exactly are they? Join us for a live event by Vitaly Bragilevsky, Head of the Rust Ecosystem at JetBrains, member of the Rust Commercial Network Steering Committee, former university lecturer, and author of Haskell in Depth. In this event, we’ll discuss programming languages in general: 🔹 How programming languages evolve. 🔹 Recent language design trends and emerging features. 🔹 How programming languages will survive in the age of LLMs. Whether you're a software engineer, researcher, educator, student, or simply curious about programming languages, we’d love to see you there. Programming Languages Today and Tomorrow 📅 August 21, 3:00 pm UTC ▶️ Watch live: https://lnkd.in/eStCyBCr See you there!

  • For a limited time, Junie's new default model is 40% off base pricing. It's Gemini 3.7 Flash, Google's most capable Flash model yet for coding and agents. In Google's own testing, 3.7 Flash is a clear step up from the 3.6 Flash it replaces: it resolves far more long-horizon software-engineering tasks (DeepSWE 65.3% vs 49.0%) and produces more production-ready code (FrontierCode 43.6% vs 34.4%), with better first-pass accuracy and fewer retries. That's a quality upgrade, not a trade-off you make to save money. If you pay per token elsewhere, the pitch is simple. You get premium-class results on routine work without the premium bill. And because Junie is model-agnostic, you're never locked in: Bring your own key and point it wherever the value is. It's already the default, so there's nothing to set up. Open the plugin or the CLI and run a real task. http://Junie.jetbrains.com #AI #CodingAgents #DeveloperTools #JetBrains #LLM #Junie
