This is great! Thanks for the explanation and the examples!
Do you need hooks in Bob?🪝 If you are just vibecoding a prototype... probably not. If you are working in a team on an existing code base... ABSOLULTY YES! In this video I explain what hooks are and give you some examples how to use them Link to youtube in the comments 👇

Bob's new update is live! Bob Shell V2 now runs the same agent and harness as Bob IDE, so skills and sub-agents work everywhere. Also shipping: OAuth for MCP servers, interactive charts in chat, and a first look at the new Bobalytics. 2:36 walkthrough, link in the comments 👇
A task no longer has to stay in the client where it began. 🔄 With Bob Shell v2, you can start a task in Shell, then open the same task in Bob IDE when you want to inspect the code and proposed changes visually. The shared task history removes the need to start a new conversation when switching between the terminal and editor. Bob Shell now runs on the same V2 agent and harness as Bob IDE. This brings Skills and Subagents to terminal sessions. Skills package reusable procedures, while Subagents handle focused investigations in a separate context. Shell v2 also separates interactive and automated use more clearly: `bob chat` starts a multi-turn terminal session, `bob run` executes headless tasks for scripts and pipelines, and `bob mcp` manages MCP server configurations. The July update also introduces two Bobalytics views. Today brings together personal tasks, weekly rhythm, and key metrics. Editorial surfaces notable usage patterns across users, teams, and instances. Bob IDE adds OAuth authorization for MCP servers, resources through `@`, and server-provided prompts through `/`. Proposed file edits can now be previewed and adjusted before they are applied, and the task browser can open work from other workspaces. 👇 Link to the blog post in the comments below: 👇
This is awesome!
Subagents, background tasks, and one-click code review. There’s a lot new in Bob V2. Want to see it in action? Check out Maximilian Jesch’s demo, where he uses IBM Bob to go from GitHub issue to pull request in just five minutes.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
👁️🐝Ⓜ️ What a blast! We had an amazing time at WeAreDevelopers last week meeting with 15.000 developers from all over the world, ready to see all the best developer tech out there - including IBM Bob! Maximilian Jesch held a great session with a live demo of our AI Agent for Developers, Bob (who is an expert on the entire software development lifecycle) where he showcased some really cool Java capabilities! The start of an amazing series! Thanks a lot Ethan Mendel for introducing us to the Premium Package for Z
I’m excited to share the first video in a series on IBM Bob Premium Package for Z that walks through the key challenges, ideas, and takeaways when utilizing AI with mainframe applications. The main topic in this first video is why the Premium Package for Z, in addition to Bob, is a must have for enterprise development. Whether you're working with mainframe applications or just interested in coding assistants, I think you'll find it’s worth a watch!
