This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. One of the most meaningful traditions of remembrance is the Memorial Table, often called the Missing Man Table. Every item placed on the table carries deep symbolism and reminds us that freedom is never free. The empty chair represents those who are no longer with us. The white tablecloth symbolizes the purity of their intentions in answering the call to serve. The single red rose reminds us of the blood shed and the loved ones who continue to carry their memory. The black napkin represents the sorrow of loss. The lemon slice signifies the bitterness and hardships of war. The inverted glass shows that our fallen heroes cannot share a toast with us today. The candle reflects the light of their spirit and eternal remembrance. We remember more than names. We remember sacrifice, courage, duty, and the price paid by generations of Americans to protect the freedoms we often take for granted. Crescent’s Leadership Conference kicked off this week featuring a lineup of speakers carefully chosen to reflect and reinforce our bold strategy and innovative spirit. CEO and President Michael George gave a look back of Crescent’s 25-year history and a look ahead to the next 25 years. Bestselling author and speaker Ryan Leak shared research-based strategies for working with even the most challenging people to create more collaborative and productive teams. He delivered tangible take aways as well as laughs from his anecdotes and relatable stories. Each department within Crescent also shared out their 2025 wins and their priorities for 2026. We are excited to announce our Department of the Month: Training. The Front Desk team has nominated this group of true unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. When things are going well, it's easy to overlook the efforts that make it possible. However, when something goes wrong, the first question often is, "Who trained them?" Fortunately, that's a question we don't have to ask very often. This team has dedicated an incredible amount of time, heart, and attention to creating a program that goes beyond just training new hires. They set the tone from day one, equipping our team members with the confidence, knowledge, and energy to succeed right from the start. Their impact extends across the entire resort. They have re-energized our teams, reinforced our standards, and fostered a culture of consistency, accountability, and pride in our work every single day. Though they may not always be in the spotlight, they are truly the foundation of our success.
