Building the workforce takes more than recruiting. It takes a plan for how people learn, grow, and stay with the company. Hays Electrical Services CEO Eric Hays joined fellow industry leaders at American Subcontractors Association-Houston Chapter's General Lunch Meeting for a conversation about recruiting, developing, and retaining the next generation of construction talent. With Hays teams supporting projects across the country, including a job getting underway in Anchorage, Alaska, training has to be able to go where the work goes. The nationally accredited 5K Electrical Apprenticeship Program can be completed remotely on an iPad or phone, with orientation and boot camps in Houston and continued development under experienced foremen and superintendents in the field. Eric shared how Hays thinks about retention: “Retention is a result, just like profits are a result. It's a result of everything you did with that employee, right up to the end of the job. Recently, our team reached a major project milestone at The Ritz-Carlton Residences. ⚡ During a scheduled shutdown, crews completed the temporary-to-permanent power cutover, bringing the building onto its permanent electrical system.
