Freeport LNG: Taking U.S. Natural Gas Global The shale gas revolution in the late 2000s marked a turning point in the U.S. oil and gas industry. For Freeport LNG, it meant taking our business in a new direction: transforming an import terminal into a natural gas liquefaction and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility. Now, we are on our way to becoming one of the first and largest U.S. exporters of LNG. What Makes Freeport LNG Successful? A Bright Future. The shale gas revolution opened up the possibility for the U.S. to gain a prominent position in the international energy markets. With access to an abundance of domestic reserves, Freeport LNG began to develop the liquefaction project in 2010. After securing world-class customers and closing financing, construction started in late 2014. The first three production units (or trains) will add approximately 15 million metric tonnes per year (mtpa) of nominal liquefaction capacity to the Quintana Island terminal facilities. A great night with Brazosport College, Brazosport ISD, and the Houston Astros to celebrate our community.
Before the first pitch at Daikin Park, representatives from Brazosport College, Freeport LNG, Brazosport ISD, and the Astros Foundation were recognized on the field during the pregame ceremony as Freeport LNG officially nominated Brazosport College to receive a portion of the Astros Foundation Share2Care 50/50 Raffle proceeds from the Astros vs. Marlins game. This investment in our students is an investment in our community, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the partnerships that make opportunities like this possible.

Brazosport College, Brazosport ISD, and Freeport LNG leaders were joined by the Houston Astros Foundation to celebrate the upcoming Share2Care program. Freeport LNG nominated Brazosport College to receive funds from the raffle proceeds collected at the July 22 Astros game. Members of the community joined the fun by taking pictures with Astros Coca-Cola Shooting Stars and the organization’s 2017 and 2022 World Series trophies.

Volunteers from Freeport LNG spent the afternoon packing more than 300 backpacks with school supplies as part of the Brazoria County Dream Center’s Back 2 School Bash. Freeport LNG employees recently held a drive for school supplies to help the Dream Center with its goal of helping students across Brazoria County be prepared to start the school year.
