#ThePowerOf equity is the mission of the Fox Valley Park Foundation! Established in 1981, The Foundation works every day to ensure residents can take advantage of all that the park district has to offer regardless of cost. The Foundation describes its mission as 'Access in Action'. “It’s about being proactive in addressing gaps in access to our programs for all our residents, regardless of financial capability,” says Rachel Ossyra, foundation manager. There is no substitute for a summer spent outside! Through the Parker’s Foundation Grant Program, scholarships send kids to the park district’s summer camps, benefiting both parents and kids. “It allows parents to do their work and not worry about their kids. They know their kids are in good hands." Help support our mission by visiting https://lnkd.in/eha3UcmU. #ParkandRecMonth#ParkandRecMonth2026

The #PowerOfConnection can start with something as simple as a splash of water. 💦 During Park and Recreation Month, we're celebrating how parks bring people together—and our nine free splash pads do exactly that. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day, splash pads offer a fun, refreshing place for children to cool off, play and make summertime memories with friends and siblings. With locations throughout the District, they're never far from home and are designed to welcome everyone. "Our splash pads are in community, regional and neighborhood parks, so they're situated across all settings, which allows engagement of all different types," says Director of Operations Jerad Campbell. "It's a way we can connect residents, especially kids, to water play without it needing to be something formal that requires a membership or daily use fee." Whether you're meeting neighbors, catching up with friends or simply looking for a no-cost way to beat the heat, pack a picnic (+ a towel!) and stop by an FVPD splash pad to find a place where laughter, connection and community come naturally. Does your family have a favorite? Let us know in the comments! #ParkandRecMonth #ParkandRecMonth2026

Our Adopt-A-Park/Trail Program is underway, and there’s plenty of opportunity to jump in and make a difference! Whether you’re part of a neighborhood group, business, church, or just a group of friends looking to give back, adopting a park or trail is a simple, meaningful way to help keep our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. With parks located within a half-mile of most homes, it’s easy to find a spot close to you. Last year’s volunteers made a huge impact—and we’d love to welcome more helping hands in 2026! Interested? Contact Ivan Chambers at ichambers@fvpd.net or 630-966-4518.
