  • Last week, Ben Fisk and three other Fisk team members hit the course for the annual Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado Golf Tournament! This event is always a highlight of the year, bringing Colorado’s landscape industry together for a great day of golf, networking, and fun while helping support ALCC programs that strengthen our industry. As ALCC Board President, Ben also had the opportunity to connect with many of the attendees, vendors, and industry partners throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make it another great ALCC event!

  • Friday afternoon, we hit pause on the busy season to celebrate the people who make Fisk Lawnscapes what it is. Our annual Summer Celebration brought together team members and their families for an afternoon of great food, bounce houses, face painting, bubbles, games, and plenty of Josh & John's Ice Cream. A special thanks to Fisk Lawnscapes' owner, Ben Fisk, for spending the afternoon behind the grill serving up dinner for the team. 😋 At Fisk, we believe great companies are built by great people, and taking time to celebrate together is one small way we show our appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and families that support our team every day.

  • We’ve talked a lot lately about the custom work we do for residents. But did you know we also do commercial landscape maintenance? Whether you’re a property manager for an HOA neighborhood, a medical building, a park, school, or other commercial space, our team is passionate about keeping your landscape looking clean and beautiful. First impressions are crucial, especially when you’re inviting a great deal of people to your space. Ensuring you have a beautiful landscape is key to a good first impression. Part of our commercial landscaping is also snow removal! As the weather starts to cool down in Colorado Springs, planning for the winter is key! Ready to level up your commercial landscaping? Give our team a shout! https://lnkd.in/eZtiQTCA

  • We talk a lot here at Fisk about water conservation and being water-wise contractors, but what does that actually look like in practice? Xeriscaping is a water-conserving landscaping system developed here in Colorado. Combining soil science, plant selection, and irrigation strategy, it’s a cohesive way to ensure landscapes are getting the best possible care and treatment year-round. In Colorado Springs specifically, xeriscaping projects must account for many factors including (but not limited to): → freeze-thaw cycles → heavy clay soil → long summer dry periods We want our customers to Love Coming Home. Xeriscaping—ensuring their landscape is cared for in its entirety—is one way we make that happen. There are seven principles of xeriscaping that we follow:  1. Planning & design 2. Soil improvement 3. Plant selection & hydrozoning 4. Practical turf areas 5. Efficient irrigation 6. Mulching 7. Appropriate maintenance This is just one of many ways we care for our customers & their landscapes! • Here at Fisk, we offer unique, custom builds for a myriad of projects. Water features are one! Whether it’s a naturalistic border stream or a formal fountain, water features are a fabulous way to spruce up any landscape. Not only are they stunning, but they’re a unique way to bring movement and sound to our customers’ outdoor spaces. Depending on the design a customer chooses, water features can also be attractive and beneficial for local wildlife. Practically, these additions also aid in stress relief (because of the calming sounds) and increase curb appeal of any home. Water features also increase the air quality in a customer’s yard! There are many benefits to adding a water feature (or other custom addition) to a customer’s landscape. Creating these custom water features is just one way we help our customers Love Coming Home. Does your team do water features or any other custom work? We’d love to see!

  • Proud of Philip Wagner & Joseph Callan for representing Fisk well at this year’s Lawn & Landscape magazine Tech Conference! Great to see our team always learning, growing, and investing in the future of the Green Industry. Check out the post below!

Just wrapped up Lawn & Landscape magazine Technology Conference in Scottsdale this week with Joey. The green industry is moving fast: autonomous mowers, AI integration, and smarter ops. Came away more confident than ever that Fisk Lawnscapes is already in the right lane and pushing forward.

  • Since July is #SmartIrrigationMonth, it seems only right to highlight one of our amazing partners, Colorado Springs Utilities. They have served the Colorado Springs area for over 100 years, providing safe, reliable, and competitively priced utility services. They provide electric service, natural gas service, water service, and wastewater service. CSU also has multiple rebate programs available for residents in Colorado Springs using smart irrigation systems ranging from sprinkler head rebates to native grass lawn programs, rain sensors, and more! As a landscaping company, water and utilities have a great impact on what we do! We’re happy to partner with an amazing utility company like Colorado Springs Utilities to ensure our clients and customers get the best care, products, and programs possible.

  • In honor of #SmartIrrigationMonth, we want to talk about irrigation systems and being a team of water-wise contractors. Installing a smart irrigation system can significantly increase the health of a customer’s landscape, and significantly decrease their water usage. Especially in the case of a drought like we’ve experienced in Colorado this year, having a high-quality, smart irrigation system is crucial. There are typically two options to ensure an irrigation system is operating optimally: 1. Doing a thorough system check, making sure the rain sensor is changed regularly, repairing any damage, and making adjustments to the programming. 2. Completely retrofitting the irrigation system, adding or upgrading to things like WeatherTrak smart controllers, flow sensors, master valves, and PRS-CV heads with MP Rotators. (These retrofit changes typically result in a 30-50% reduction in water usage). In order to make sure customers are getting the best care and the best products for their specific landscape, we have to be water-wise contractors. Here at Fisk, that means our irrigators have national certifications through the Irrigation Association and QWEL. It means we regularly send our team members to irrigation classes. It means looking at a landscape holistically and thinking horticulturally, not just about the practical day to day of irrigation systems. It means we are in regular conversation with CO Springs Utilities, water conservationists, and so much more. Being water-wise, using smart irrigation, and installing native plants to ensure less water usage are all things that are crucial to consider, not just during a drought, not just during #SmartIrrigationMonth, but always! The health of our landscapes and our Colorado Springs environment depend on these practices. How does your team utilize smart irrigation systems?
