Three years ago, 2% of institutions called tech modernization a top priority. Today it's 85%. That kind of shift doesn't happen by accident — and we wanted to know why. We teamed up with Hanover Research to survey 200 provosts about what's driving academic operations to the top of their agenda. The results point to real changes in how leadership thinks about AI, data, and where the biggest opportunities (and roadblocks) are. Join us Tuesday, August 18 at 2 PM ET with The Chronicle of Higher Education to dig into the results and hear from a panel of higher ed leaders about their work to innovate academic operations. Can't make it live? Register anyway and we'll send you the recording. 🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/eHHktR_P

Reflecting on the last week of July, 350+ colleagues from across academic operations descended on San Diego for AcOps 2026. Hands down one of the most energizing weeks I've had as Coursedog's CEO. In my opening remarks I emphasized Coursedog’s mission of breaking down barriers to student success and our Keynote speaker, Elliot Felix, author of The Connected College, presented on moving "from silos to symphonies." All of this to highlight that when curriculum lives in one system, scheduling in another, and assessment in a spreadsheet nobody exports anymore, students are the ones that pay the price. That's exactly why academic operations is now recognized as a frontline discipline. It’s not back-office work, but the thing standing between an institution and the outcomes it needs at scale. While we were there, I sat down with The EdUp Experience for a conversation that picked up right where the keynote left off: → What it actually looks like when AI shows up in academic operations — agents that do the work, manage the process, surface insights, and help you decide faster, always with a human in the loop. → Why building your institution's own MCP (Modern Context Protocol, your institution’s own connected AI data foundation) of context and outcomes matters more than chasing the "perfect" data lake. → What separates a vendor from a real partner, and why higher ed needs more of the latter right now. → Where I think this space goes next — category-defining products, and finally solving interoperability at the system level, not just the campus level. One line from the conversation has stuck with me since: the institutions that start now build momentum. The ones waiting on the sidelines are losing ground and the gap just keeps widening. If you were in the room in San Diego, thank you for showing up ready to reimagine how our institutions operate and put in the work it takes to serve our students. If you weren't, the link to listen is in the comments. #AcOps2026 #HigherEd #AcademicOperations #EdTech #AI

AcOps 2026 is officially a wrap, and what a week it was. 🎉 Hundreds of academic operations professionals came together in San Diego to do what our community does best: share what's working, learn from each other, and push the field forward. A few highlights from the week: 🎤 Keynote speaker Elliot Felix had the room thinking about the role of academic operations in creating a connected college 🎙️ Live podcast recording with The EdUp Experience, featuring real conversations with registrars and academic ops leaders from across the country ⚾ A night out at Petco Park cheering on the Padres. Community-building doesn't stop when the sessions end! ☀️ Plenty of outdoor meals and great conversations in the beautiful San Diego weather Thank you to everyone who joined, presented, and made the case for academic operations as the backbone of student success. We're already looking forward to next year. Follow AcOps to keep the conversation going year-round and get sneak peeks into next year’s conference!

AcOps 2026 has officially kicked off! Elliot Felix shared what it takes to create a connected college through better technology, data, and organizational design. I know what's on our reading list when we get home from the conference 👀 The Connected College
Just had a great discussion with my 400 new *best friends* at the opening keynote of the AcOps conference by Coursedog! I shared stats, stories, and strategies from The Connected College for folks to: 💻 Consolidate their tech stack to curb digital sprawl and better support students 📊 Conduct more regular, data-driven, and market-facing academic program reviews 🙋 Design their organization to share data in real-time and build communities of practice to break down silos There was so much energy during the think/pair/share moments too, with some interesting insights! It seems every institution has a few outdated academic programs they'd love to let go of so they can invest in others -- and according to the polls, ineffective governance is by far the biggest barrier to doing so. Looking forward to learning from and with folks throughout the conference! Thanks to Andrew Rosen Chris Chumley Bridget Moran and team for the chance to spark the important work of reimagining academic operations! 👏 #highered #studentsuccess #connectedcollege #acops2026 #2026acops
