Five years ago, we partnered with Year Up United on a simple truth: talent is spread evenly across every zip code; access to opportunity is not. They call that gap the Opportunity Divide. Closing it became our shared bet. This week, we marked the 50th person to walk through the door we built to close it. Fifty people. Fifty interns who walked in still finding their footing and walked out as developers, analysts, engineers, and, for a growing number, mentors to the next cohort behind them. The numbers back up what we feel every time we're in the room with them: → 83% of Year Up United interns at Compass have been hired full time → 97.2% of hiring managers would recommend the program → 94% of interns felt supported and valued The first number is what got your attention. Another Compass Technology Hackathon, another win for innovation! 🚀 Last week, the AI Agent Hackathon Summer 2026 brought together 38 associates from Foodbuy, Finance, Leisure Operations, EFSM, Sales, Canteen, HSQA Risk, and corporate technology teams at Compass Group Canada’s corporate office. These teams spent two days using Microsoft Copilot Studio to build AI agents to solve business challenges. Delivered in partnership with our Compass Technology Citizen Intelligence team and Microsoft, the event closed with each team presenting to a judging panel of senior Compass leaders: David Baellor, Senior Director of BI Platforms & Data Mesh at CDAI, Clayton Sin, VP Finance, and Fernanda Caceres, Senior Director of HSQA Risk. Congratulations to our winning team: Rishab Abbhi, Errin Wright, Kweku Lartey, Leona Yiu, Marcos Samra, and Hala Fahmi.
