  • Celebrating National Aviation Day with the amazing teams at Montgomery Gibbs Executive Airport and Brown Field Airport! The City’s general aviation airports support essential services, from air ambulances to aerial firefighting and skydiving. They also provide many young people with access to high-quality aviation training programs that prepare them for good careers, as well as valuable business opportunities for local entrepreneurs. Together, these two airports generate approximately $200 million in annual economic impact and support more than 1,500 local jobs. All of this is supported by employees in the City’s Economic Development Department’s Airports Division and the airports’ tenants, who help keep San Diego’s aviation community soaring. ✈️💙 #SanDiego #CityOfSanDiego #AviationDay

  • An award-winning project to improve the storm drain systems at Maple Canyon in Bankers Hill is nearing completion! These improvements, which include repairing the slopes and restoring the Maple Canyon streambed will help reduce the chance of future erosion. Overall, this is a $20 million investment, partially funded with a nearly $6 million federal grant. The project is making a positive impact! It was one of six projects for which our Engineering and Capital Projects Department received an award from the American Public Works Association San Diego & Imperial Counties Chapter this year. The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2026. #SanDiegoAtWork #BankersHill

  • San Diegans now have an opportunity to help shape the future of Opportunity Zones (OZ) 2.0. This is an updated federal program designed to drive long-term investment into under-resourced neighborhoods. Small businesses and organizations located in Opportunity Zones can also benefit from certain City grants and programs. The City recently released a list of 47 census tracts they recommended to the State for OZ 2.0, which you can find here: sandiego.gov/OZ20 Now through Aug. 28, residents, stakeholders and community organizations have the chance to weigh in on the State’s draft recommendations. The draft recommendations include 13 census tracts within city boundaries. This is a key moment to help influence which San Diego communities are nominated before the State submits its final list to the U.S. Treasury in September. Your voice matters. Whether you’re a neighborhood advocate, business leader, nonprofit or resident, your feedback can help strengthen San Diego’s nominations and ensure they reflect community priorities. You can learn more about OZ 2.0, review the State’s recommended census tracts and share your thoughts by visiting this link: https://lnkd.in/gVZjvmb5

  • We’re working to make sure tools like our Get It Done app are accessible to everyone. Thank you to the National Federation of the Blind of California – San Diego Chapter for partnering with the City’s Performance & Analytics Department (PandA) and ADA Compliance and Accessibility teams to test the newest version of the Get It Done app. Participants worked through real-world reporting scenarios, helping identify accessibility challenges and providing valuable feedback to improve the experience for all users. The updated Get It Done app includes a streamlined reporting process, enhanced accessibility features and better compatibility with screen readers, making it easier than ever to report non-emergency issues like potholes, graffiti and more. The thoughtful feedback from this group of testers will help make the Get It Done app more accessible and improve the experience for everyone who uses it. Download or update the Get It Done app today and help keep San Diego safe, clean and connected: sandiego.gov/get-it-done. #GetItDone #Accessibility #SanDiego
