Today marks ten years since the tragic incident on July 7, 2016. On this anniversary, we pause to honor the five officers whose lives were taken: four members of the Dallas Police Department and one officer from Dallas Area Rapid Transit. We also remember the officers and civilians who were injured. Dallas has never forgotten their courage, their service, or the profound loss felt across our community. As we reflect a decade later, we stand united in compassion and gratitude. We honor the families, colleagues, and loved ones forever changed. We recognize the strength that emerged from our city in the days that followed. And we reaffirm our commitment to fostering understanding, empathy, and safety for all who call Dallas home. The Dallas Police Department will also be hosting a Remembrance Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. today at the Jack Evans Police Headquarters, and we encourage all who are able to join in solidarity of those we lost.

Registration is free and helps ensure compliance with local ordinance requirements. A short‑term rental includes any residential property — or portion of a property — rented for fewer than 30 days, whether it’s a home, unit, garage apartment, or backyard cottage. In addition to registering, operators are required to collect Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) from guests and report and remit these taxes to the City each month.
