  • Last month, several youth from Boys & Girls Haven’s Transitional Living Program attended the 2026 Youth Empowerment Conference hosted by Kentucky RISE in Lexington. The two-day event brought together youth in care and caregivers from across the state for learning, connection, and personal growth. Conference highlights included inspiring keynote presentations from Miss Kentucky and author/content creator Chaya Milchtein, a screening of Their Truth: An Aging Out Story, and a variety of interactive workshops focused on life skills, self-advocacy, and future planning. Youth also had the opportunity to network with peers and connect with organizations dedicated to supporting young people as they transition into adulthood. The experience was especially meaningful for Boys & Girls Haven youth Dontae, who was honored with the Youth Empowerment Conference Attendee Award in recognition of his active participation and engagement throughout the conference. “I really enjoyed the youth conference and appreciated the chance to reconnect with old friends while also meeting new people. I learned a lot and gained valuable information about available resources, and I’m already looking forward to attending again next year. I was truly surprised, happy, and excited to receive the award."

  • Last week, we were honored to dedicate two meaningful new spaces on our campus: the Hope & Haven Arena and the Legacy Garden. Guests enjoyed an open house of our expanded Animal-Assisted Healing facilities (complete with beautiful new signage generously donated by Signarama), and a special demonstration of our Animal-Assisted Healing Program led by one of our clinicians. The Hope & Haven Arena, made possible through generous gifts from the FourEvergreen Foundation, serves as a place for healing, growth, and connection through our Animal-Assisted Healing Program and leadership trainings for youth. Guests also viewed the Legacy Garden, located in front of our administration building, honoring recipients of the Nicholas X. Simon Altruism Award presented annually at our Legacy Celebration. This space recognizes the compassion and commitment of past recipients including: Frank & Martha Diebold, Alan Gates, Sue Perram, David Worland, Terra Boone, Anne Geher Discher, Steve & Peg Diebold, and Lisa Brendel Ewen. A special thank you to Noah's Kitchen for providing catering for the event. We are especially grateful for their mission, as 100% of the restaurant’s profits support local charities — and in June, Noah’s Kitchen will be supporting Boys & Girls Haven! Save the date: the 2026 Legacy Celebration will take place Friday, October 23rd at the Olmsted.
