We are proud to celebrate an important milestone for Blue Heron Capital partner ChartSpan Medical Technologies: the acquisition of Validic, a leading personal health data platform. By bringing together ChartSpan’s care management services and clinical expertise with Validic’s digital health data infrastructure, the combined company is building a more connected approach to remote care. Healthcare organizations will be better equipped to turn continuous patient-generated data into earlier interventions, more personalized care and improved outcomes at scale. Congratulations to Christine Hawkins and the entire ChartSpan and Validic teams as they begin this exciting next chapter. This month, we’re featuring Dr. Tom Yackel, a valued member of the OA Collaborative at Blue Heron Capital. Tom brings a distinctive combination of clinical leadership, healthcare operations, population health, informatics, and business experience. As a practicing primary care physician, he has built his career around improving how care is delivered and helping healthcare organizations advance the Quadruple Aim. He currently serves as Chief Clinical Excellence Officer for CenterWell Senior Primary Care, where he helps shape clinical strategy and performance across a large, complex care delivery organization. Previously, Tom held senior leadership roles at VCU Health, including serving as president of the physician practice and leading ambulatory operations. His experience spans healthcare providers, physician organizations, post-acute and outpatient care, payer partnerships, and operational transformation. Tom earned his Doctor of Medicine from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. We’re grateful to have Tom as part of the OA Collaborative and to make his clinical, operational, and strategic perspective available to founders and leadership teams working to improve care delivery and build stronger healthcare organizations.

We’re excited to share more about Blue Heron Capital’s investment in Ognomy Sleep. Obstructive sleep apnea is a large, underdiagnosed market, and too many patients still face long waits, fragmented care, and limited access to sleep specialists. Ognomy is built to help close that gap. Through its tech-enabled care model, Ognomy expands access to diagnosis and treatment while helping reduce pressure on sleep clinics, referring clinicians, health systems, and cardiometabolic care programs. For Blue Heron, this investment reflects what we look for in healthcare companies: a meaningful market need, a scalable model, a strong leadership team, and the potential to improve both patient access and system efficiency. Congratulations again to Dr. Daniel Rifkin, MD, MPH and the Ognomy Sleep team. We’re excited to support the journey ahead. https://lnkd.in/ecTfNJbr

Thrilled to share Blue Heron Capital’s investment in Ognomy Sleep. Ognomy is a national virtual sleep care platform focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing obstructive sleep apnea (“OSA”) through an end-to-end tech enabled care model. We’re excited to welcome Dr. Daniel Rifkin, MD, MPH and the whole Ognomy team to the Blue Heron family. https://lnkd.in/egVib9-C
Today, I'm extremely proud to share that Ognomy Sleep has raised a $20M Series A financing. This is a huge milestone for us and I’m still reeling in emotions! I spent most of my career taking care of people with sleep apnea and I’ve seen what happens when it’s ignored, minimized, or made just too hard to treat. I’ve also seen what happens when people finally get the right care they deserve. They feel so much better in many ways. To name a few, they think more clearly, their blood pressure comes down, their heart health improves, their partner finally sleeps through the night, they stop nodding off at stoplights, and somewhere along the way life just gets a little lighter. That is why we are building Ognomy Sleep – simply because sleep apnea care should not require months of waiting, multiple disconnected appointments, confusing handoffs, or patients having to become project managers of their own diagnosis. From the beginning, our mission has been simple: open up access to high-quality sleep apnea care for the people who need it. It should meet people where they are, which is usually at home, tired, and wondering why they feel so terrible. The numbers tell part of the story; we’ve achieved more than 85,000 visits on the platform where patients are seen 9x faster than the traditional system. Our patients didn't have to wait, drive hours, or navigate a broken system. Those numbers aren't just metrics we put in a slide deck to make investors comfortable…they are real people getting great care. We are still early in the journey. There is so much more to build and do. But today I want to pause and say thank you. I am incredibly grateful to our investors for believing in this mission. Thank you to Catalyst Investors for leading this round, and to Blue Heron Capital, Impellent Ventures, Launch NY, Excell Partners, University at Buffalo, and everyone who has supported Ognomy along the way. A huge thank you also belongs to the Ognomy team. You have built this one patient at a time. Every consult or sleep study completed, every question answered, every patient reassured, every barrier quietly removed. And to our brilliant clinicians, thank you for proving that virtual care can still feel deeply personal when it is done the right way. And last but not least, thank you to our patients for trusting us with something as personal as sleep where you spend a third of your lives. We are honored to have the opportunity to care for you, and excited to now be able to do even more. You are our North Star. Building in healthcare is humbling and at times frustrating. On many days it is forms, faxes, prior auth denials, and other problems so old and entrenched. Then a patient tells us that they finally slept through the night, or a spouse says “I got my husband back” - this is what makes building in healthcare truly rewarding! This is what inspires us at Ognomy Sleep… and we’re just getting started.

At Blue Heron Capital, we believe the strongest companies are built not only on innovation, but on the operating discipline required to scale it. Brian Wilson of Kion shares an important perspective in Forbes Technology Council on the evolution of FinOps in 2026, including the role of automation, governance, and accountability in helping organizations turn cloud and AI investments into measurable impact. Great insight from Brian and the Kion team. https://lnkd.in/geYbHnKW
