I’ve just released IFC Sift, a new BBMT tool built to make IFC model filtering much faster and more practical. On large coordination or fabrication models, sometimes you don’t need the entire IFC you only need the elements related to a specific scope, material, zone, production tag, supplier, or property value. IFC Sift lets you: • Load an IFC model • Search for specific text inside element properties • Keep only the matching elements • Preserve their associated assemblies • Maintain the required IFC relationships and project structure • Export a clean, filtered IFC ready for coordination or further processing For example, if a large fabrication model contains hundreds or thousands of elements and you only need elements associated with “NAS”, IFC Sift can extract that scope into a dedicated IFC instead of requiring manual selection or model cleanup. The goal is simple: Take a large IFC → define what matters → export only what you need. Another small tool focused on making openBIM workflows faster, cleaner, and easier to automate. From Requirements to Reliable Data Reliable BIM information does not begin with adding parameters to a model. It begins when an organization identifies the decisions it must make, converts those needs into clear exchange requirements, assigns delivery responsibilities, plans each information milestone, and validates the final IFC data against measurable rules. https://lnkd.in/gfuVQzae

The Cloud Collaboration Stack Cloud collaboration is not simply about moving project files from a local server into an online folder. This guide explains how document-management systems, Common Data Environment workflows, BIM collaboration platforms, field tools, analytics, and Autodesk Forma work together to keep project information controlled, traceable, and usable from design through construction and operations. https://lnkd.in/geeW7hap

The DNA of OpenBIM openBIM is not simply about exporting models to IFC. This guide explores the standards, data structures, exchange rules, validation methods, and issue-management workflows that allow different BIM platforms to communicate without losing the meaning, ownership, or reliability of project information. https://lnkd.in/gwR89zZQ

Article Series: "The Rules of BIM Coordination" Chapter 4: The Pillars of Model Integrity openBIM, IFC, Georeferencing, and Level of Development Reliable BIM coordination depends on more than visually accurate models. This chapter explains how openBIM and IFC enable software interoperability, how georeferencing keeps every discipline aligned in the same physical location, and how Level of Development and information requirements define exactly what project teams can trust. https://lnkd.in/gJMHyt4p

Article Series: "The Rules of BIM Coordination" Chapter 3: The Mechanics of BIM Coordination Coordination Cycles, Clash Detection, and Issue Resolution. BIM coordination is more than running clash-detection software. This chapter explains how teams use structured coordination cycles, model-readiness checks, priority-based clash testing, and connected issue tracking to turn separate discipline models into one coordinated and constructible project. https://lnkd.in/gQXTGwWh

Article Series: "The Rules of BIM Coordination" Chapter 2: The Contractual Playbook of BIM Project BIM Management Plan vs. BIM Execution Plan BIM projects need more than models—they need clear governance. This chapter explains how the Project BIM Management Plan establishes the project-wide vision, while BIM Execution Plans translate that vision into practical workflows, responsibilities, standards, and quality-control procedures. https://lnkd.in/gDAw2X8k
