Performance isn't engineered into the base resin alone. Functional additives influence how materials process, perform, and withstand real-world conditions. As regulatory requirements evolve and performance expectations increase, engineers need to evaluate those technologies as part of the complete material system. Americhem's upcoming webinar with UL Solutions Prospector will explore how formulation compatibility, processing conditions, delivery method, and application-specific validation influence functional additive performance before scale-up. If your team is evaluating performance beyond the base resin, this discussion is designed to provide a practical perspective. In a static-sensitive cleanroom, a chair is part of the control environment. For one industrial furniture manufacturer, redesigning ESD seating meant solving a difficult combination of static dissipation, structural durability, cleanability, molded appearance, and production consistency. The challenge became even harder when moving from vinyl foam to an injection-molded design. See how Americhem helped engineer the material solution behind the transition: https://lnkd.in/eGPgf6Y2 #Americhem #ESD #CleanroomManufacturing #InjectionMolding #EngineeredCompounds #PolymerSolutions

A summer night at the ballgame with the Americhem team! ⚾🎆 Team members from our Ohio facilities recently gathered to cheer on the Akron RubberDucks, enjoy dinner, and spend some time together outside of work. Making time for events like this gives our teams a chance to connect in a different setting, strengthen relationships, and get to know the people they work alongside every day. Thanks to everyone who joined us for a great evening at the ballpark! #Americhem #TeamAmerichem #AkronRubberDucks #LifeAtAmerichem

Dark exterior polymer systems can look right in an approved sample and still create challenges during validation. Solar heat buildup, weathering, pigment selection, processing conditions, and material interactions can all influence performance as a profile moves toward production and long-term exterior exposure. When should those variables be evaluated, and what should manufacturers consider before committing to full-scale trials? Our latest issue of In Practice explores the engineering considerations behind specifying exterior polymer systems for long-term performance. Color is changing what’s possible in medical device laser marking. In our latest article with MD+DI, Kumar parimal, Ph.D. and Kim Reedtz explore how color-toned laser marking can improve device identification on dark substrates while reducing reliance on labels and secondary marking processes. The work connects material design with how medical devices are identified, manufactured, and used. Thank you to the MD+DI team for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation. #Americhem #ManufacturingExcellence #MDDI #MedicalDevices
Breaking the Grayscale: The Future of Medical Device Laser Marking The medical device industry is evolving beyond traditional black-and-white laser markings. In their latest article, Americhem's Kumar parimal, Ph.D, and Kim Reedtz discuss how color-toned laser markings on medical devices are emerging as a game-changer, particularly for dark substrates where conventional markings struggle with visibility and contrast. This innovation enhances information presentation for healthcare professionals, improving readability and reducing potential errors in critical medical settings. As we push the boundaries of device identification and traceability, color laser marking represents a significant leap forward in combining regulatory compliance with practical usability. For hygiene product manufacturers, softness can't come at the expense of processing performance. That's where custom functional additives make the difference. Faced with a thermally unstable softness additive that was disrupting production, Americhem engineered a custom softening masterbatch tailored to the application's processing conditions and tactile requirements, helping restore process stability without compromising end-use feel. 📖 Read full case study: https://lnkd.in/e9EJf7aJ #Americhem #Nonwovens #FunctionalAdditives #Hygiene #PolymerScience

Myth: Surface treatments are the only reliable way to control fiber-fluid interaction. For decades, surface finishes have been the standard approach to modifying fiber performance. But under repeated use, washing, abrasion, or fluid exposure, surface treatments can lose effectiveness over time. A different approach is emerging. By integrating functionality during melt processing, performance is engineered directly into the fiber rather than applied to the surface. This can provide: • More durable performance under repeated use • Reduced reliance on secondary finishing processes • More consistent performance across production runs As performance expectations continue to increase from hygiene and medical applications to technical textiles and apparel, the conversation is shifting from treating the surface to engineering the material. Technologies across Americhem’s nDryve™ and nVision® platforms are enabling that transition. How do you see fiber performance evolving over the next five years? #Americhem #FiberEngineering #TechnicalTextiles #Nonwovens #MaterialScience #ManufacturingInnovation #PFASFree

Visual inconsistency across molded components can create approval delays, added sampling, and uncertainty during production ramp-up. A European healthcare OEM needed multiple visible parts, produced from different materials, to read as one cohesive product. Americhem developed a coordinated color solution that supported design intent, manufacturing repeatability, and confidence from trial through launch.
