🏃♀️💜 Help Us Fill the Stadium for the Final Kylie Rose's Run! 💜🏃♂️ At just 5 years old, Kylie Rose Jacobs began the fight of her life after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. Through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, two liver cancer recurrences, and a stem cell transplant, Kylie and her family never stopped sharing a message of hope. What started as a way to thank supporters during Kylie's treatment became something much bigger. Over the past 12 years, Kylie Rose's Run has raised more than $400,000 for Akron Children's, helping families facing childhood cancer and supporting survivorship research. Along the way, Kylie's compassion also inspired Kylie's Bags of Love, delivering comfort and smiles to more than 7,000 children. Now healthy and preparing for her senior year at Copley High School, Kylie has one special request for the final run: "Let's fill the stadium!" Join us on August 30 for the last Kylie Rose's Run and help celebrate a remarkable journey of courage, faith, resilience, and community impact. Dr. Julie Samora, chair of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, spoke at the 35th Annual Scientific Meeting of the LLRS - Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society in Montreal, Canada. We welcomed three pediatric orthopedic surgeons from Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong as part of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and Asia Pacific Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (APPOS) Traveling Fellowship Program. Akron Children’s is one of only three U.S. institutions selected to host fellows through the program. The experience gave them an opportunity to observe clinical care, participate in educational activities, exchange ideas and build lasting professional relationships. While education and patient care were the focus of the visit, the fellowship also emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and relationship building. Outside the hospital, the group explored Northeast Ohio by hiking local trails and attending an Akron RubberDucks game, giving everyone the chance to connect beyond the operating room and classroom.
