As we prepare to welcome students back to our classrooms next week, we are starting this school year with incredible momentum. Thanks to the hard work of our educators, staff, and families, Austin ISD has officially earned a 'B' rating from the Texas Education Agency. It’s our best district rating in four years! Over the last two years: -‘A’ and ‘B’ rated campuses increased by 42% -‘D’ and ‘F’ rated campuses decreased by 35% -‘A’ and ‘B’ Title I campuses doubled since 2024 While we celebrate these gains, our work isn’t done. Even as we face remaining challenges head-on, our focus stays firmly where it belongs: on our students and delivering high-quality learning in every classroom. Gracias al esfuerzo de nuestros educadores, personal y familias, el Austin ISD ha obtenido oficialmente una clasificación "B" por parte de la Agencia de Educación de Texas. ¡Es la mejor clasificación del distrito en cuatro años! Grow Where You’re Planted in Austin ISD! Today, we hosted our very first cohort meeting for our TeachAustin: Grow Your Own Program participants! These future educators were motivated, curious, and ready to change the game for students. The TeachAustin: Grow Your Own program in Austin ISD empowers current non-degreed teaching assistants to earn their bachelor’s degrees and transition into certified teachers of record with support from district partners. This program is helping us invest directly in the talent already transforming our classrooms. Through structured learning experiences, mentorship and PLCs, exam support, and cohort-building, this program ensures our future educators have the backing they need every step of the way. A huge thank you to our higher education partners, Texas State University and Austin Community College, alongside generous support from our program sponsor, the Equitable Foundation for making this vision possible. Austin ISD's Teach Austin: Grow Your Own program is funded through the Texas Education Agency's Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) grant. Shout out to the 27 amazing educators who have joined our 2026-2028 National Board cohort! These dedicated individuals will be pursuing their National Board certification over the next two years. The research shows that NBCTs are improving student outcomes at an increased rate, and we couldn't be more proud of our new cohort and the 153 total NBCTs in Austin ISD that are doing the hard work to show up for kids.
