  • Can AI data centers reduce their dependence on natural gas without waiting for a hydrogen pipeline? xAI’s Colossus project has exposed a fundamental infrastructure challenge: AI data centers can be built faster than the power grid can expand. Gas turbines provide the speed, reliability, and flexibility required—but they also create carbon emissions, permitting challenges, and growing pressure from surrounding communities. AES Tech is developing a potential transition pathway. Our ammoNOVA system electrochemically extracts hydrogen from liquefied ammonia at low temperature, without conventional high-temperature ammonia cracking. It is designed to: • Produce hydrogen directly at the point of use • Follow rapid changes in turbine and data-center demand • Eliminate the need for a hydrogen pipeline • Gradually replace part of the natural-gas fuel supplied to existing turbines • Scale from an engineering pilot to multi-ton-per-day hydrogen production We are not claiming that a small pilot can decarbonize Colossus. Our current 50–100 Nm³/h platform would be an integration test—not a commercial-scale fuel supply system. The purpose would be to validate: • Hydrogen purity and ammonia slip • Dynamic load response • Fuel blending and combustion stability • Turbine compatibility and safety interlocks • Actual CO₂, NOx, CO, and formaldehyde performance There is also an important condition: This pathway only reduces lifecycle emissions when ammoNOVA is powered by sufficiently low-carbon electricity and supplied with low-carbon ammonia. Using electricity generated by the same natural-gas turbines to produce and then re-burn hydrogen would not be an effective decarbonization strategy. AES Tech is preparing a physically integrated hydrogen-to-gas-turbine demonstration in Korea. We would like to explore whether this architecture and the resulting operational data could support a phased demonstration with xAI and its turbine partners. The realistic pathway is: • Joint engineering and lifecycle-emissions study • 50–100 Nm³/h turbine-integration pilot • Scale-up to multi-ton-per-day hydrogen supply • Progressive natural-gas displacement using low-carbon ammonia and electricity We cannot decarbonize an AI data center overnight. But we may be able to provide a measurable pathway to begin replacing natural gas—without waiting for a hydrogen pipeline. • Can AI’s growing demand for power coexist with decarbonization? Meta’s recent departure from RE100 highlights a growing reality: renewable energy alone cannot yet reliably meet the 24/7, continuous, and rapidly expanding power needs of AI data centers. For instance, Meta’s planned 5 GW AI data center in Louisiana will be supported by over 5.2 GW of new natural-gas combined-cycle generation. AI power must be available 24/7, respond to rapid load shifts, and scale instantly. Today, gas turbines offer that critical flexibility. So the real question isn't whether data centers need gas turbines—it's what will fuel them in the future? While future hydrogen co-firing is being planned, making turbines hydrogen-ready is only part of the solution. The industry still needs infrastructure that can store clean energy at scale and dynamically supply hydrogen as turbine loads change. This is where AES Tech comes in. We are developing ammoNOVA, a flexible clean-hydrogen supply system based on the electrolysis of anhydrous liquefied ammonia. Instead of storing massive amounts of hydrogen in advance, ammoNOVA produces hydrogen at the point of use, precisely when needed. Key capabilities of ammoNOVA include: > Rapid hydrogen production aligned with turbine start-up > Dynamic flow control that follows real-time power-load changes > Modular expansion to increase co-firing ratios over time > An integrated onsite system spanning ammonia storage, extraction, purification, and supply Moving beyond the lab, AES Tech was selected for a national demonstration project at the Boryeong Hydrogen Turbine Test & Research Center. We will validate our technology under actual gas-turbine operating conditions, gathering data on dynamic load-following, flow stability, and continuous reliability. Achieving true decarbonization requires an integrated pathway: verified clean ammonia supply, flexible onsite extraction, and low-NOx hydrogen turbines. AI’s demand for energy doesn't mean giving up on sustainability. AES Tech is building the missing link between ammonia and hydrogen-powered flexible generation—delivering clean, reliable power for AI data centers and advanced manufacturing. #AESTech #ammoNOVA #Meta #AIDataCenters #CleanHydrogen #AmmoniaToHydrogen #HydrogenTurbine #FlexiblePower #Decarbonization #RE100 #TheMissingLink_in_Hydrogen_Turbine_Cofiring_AESTech_ammoNOVA. https://lnkd.in/gYcvD5FN

  • Membranes, too, carry the passage of time. At first, nothing appears to change. Current continues to flow. The system operates as it always has. Yet deep inside the membrane, subtle changes have already begun. Radicals generated during operation gradually attack the polymer structure. The membrane slowly weakens. Over time, ionic conductivity may decline, microscopic damage accumulates, and eventually, the lifetime of the MEA and the efficiency of the entire system are affected. Radical scavengers are used to defend against this invisible degradation. But simply adding a scavenger is not enough. If the particles agglomerate, they cannot disperse evenly throughout the regions that need protection. If they leach out during operation, their protective effect cannot last. And if they obstruct the pathways through which ions must travel, the membrane may be protected while its performance declines. AES Tech began by asking a different question. Not simply: “Can it remove radicals?” But rather: “Can it remain inside the membrane, preserve the ion-conduction pathways, and provide sustained protection over time?” AES Tech’s radical scavenger is designed to remain stably dispersed within the membrane. Its precise composition and manufacturing process are protected by patents and technical confidentiality. But the objectives behind its development are clear: To reduce radical attack and extend MEA lifetime. To create a more favorable environment for ion transport and enhance conductivity. To minimize scavenger leaching so that protection can be sustained over prolonged operation. Perhaps a good membrane is not one that is never damaged. Perhaps it is one that continues to preserve its structure and performance—even after countless invisible attacks. AES Tech is developing a material that extends this quiet passage of time. The particle that changes a membrane may be extraordinarily small. But that small difference can change the lifetime of an MEA. #RadicalScavenger #PFSA #MEA #MembraneDurability #Electrochemistry #Hydrogen #FuelCell #WaterElectrolysis #AESTech

Bridging Clean Energy and National Security: AES Tech at KDS 2026 We are proud to share that our CEO, jaehong Chun, was invited to present at KDS 2026 (Korea Defense & Security Conference), a premier open platform bridging deeptech startups with top-tier defense policy leaders and authorities. During his presentation, titled "Ammonia-Based On-Site Hydrogen Supply Pilot Project for Power Flexibility Validation at Anti-Drone and Electronic Warfare Defense Nodes," our CEO introduced a vital yet often overlooked vulnerability in modern defense infrastructure: the power peak bottleneck. When modern anti-drone systems—including radar detection, AI tracking, and electronic jamming—are triggered simultaneously, power demand spikes instantly. Traditional power grids or diesel generators face critical limitations under these sudden, extreme loads. Energy flexibility is no longer just a metric; it is a hidden baseline for combat readiness. Our Solution: ammoNOVA To address this, we proposed our room-temperature ammonia-to-hydrogen conversion platform, ammoNOVA. - Real-time Output Control: Unlike traditional high-temperature thermal cracking, our electrochemical technology operates at room temperature, allowing for instant, variable hydrogen production to match fluctuating power loads. - On-Demand Power & Safe Storage: Instead of stockpiling high-pressure hydrogen, economical and stable ammonia can be stored safely near facilities and converted to hydrogen on-demand to buffer operational surges. - True Zero-Emission: Operating with ultra-low power (approx. 300W), it generates zero CO2 and zero NOx, ensuring sustainable operation even in remote areas. The Road Ahead: A 2-Year Pilot & K-Defense Integration Rather than chasing immediate mass adoption, AES Tech proposed a focused, 2-year joint pilot program with the Ministry of National Defense and DAPA to secure rigorous operational data. Our ultimate vision extends beyond individual military nodes. By establishing a certified domestic track record, we aim to integrate our energy flexibility solutions directly with South Korea’s major defense exports—packaging advanced weapon systems with the resilient, clean energy infrastructure needed to sustain them. We extend our sincere gratitude to the policy leaders, military officials, and organizers for their keen interest in our technology. AES Tech is fully primed to deliver the technological resilience that powers the future of both industry and security. 🚀 👇 Check out the full article covering our presentation in the first comment below! #AESTech #KDS2026 #DefenseInnovation #EnergySecurity #ammoNOVA #AmmoniaElectrolysis #HydrogenInfrastructure #DeepTech #Sustainability #KDefense #MediaCoverage
