CHI 2027 is coming to Pittsburgh! We are delighted to announce that the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems will be held May 10-14, 2027 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Pittsburgh is a city shaped by reinvention: a former steel powerhouse transformed into a thriving hub, bridging technology, design, industry and the arts. In Pittsburgh, stunning architecture meets riverfront parks, world-class universities, and a bold spirit. We can't think of a more fitting home for CHI 2027. Inspired by Pittsburgh's iconic yellow bridges and CHI's enduring role in connecting people and technology, CHI 2027 invites our community to span the profound distances that face us today: between disciplines, between research and practice, between technical innovation and human values, between the communities we serve and the systems we create. Bridges are acts of intention that bring people together. The CHI community, diverse in background and united in purpose, has itself been one of the most powerful bridges in our field. Join researchers, practitioners, students, and creators from around the world as we share ideas, build community, and imagine the future of human-computer interaction together at CHI 2027 in Pittsburgh. Thank you to the CHI2026 organizing committee and the wonderful student volunteers. If you are attending ACM CHI Conference this year, you might have spotted in Neha Kumar's opening keynote that ACM SCF was listed as one of the SIGCHI-sponsored conferences 👀 🚀 For the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗖𝗙 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼-𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝟱𝟬-𝟱𝟬 𝗯𝘆 ACM SIGCHI 𝘢𝘯𝘥 ACM SIGGRAPH! 🤝🥳🎉 This milestone took a long time to get approved, with many conversations and collective effort along the way. We hope this will help SCF grow further as a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming community 🌍💙💡 Join us in Tokyo 🇯🇵 in December! Starting this year, paper submissions will go through Precision Conference (PCS): https://lnkd.in/ef38XQ-v Huge thanks to my amazing co-chairs Koya Narumi and Yuki Koyama, local chair Takeo Igarashi, program chair Takeo Igarashi, steering committee members including Robert MacCurdy, Nadya Peek, Thijs Roumen, Valkyrie Savage, Michael Wessely, Piotr Didyk, Josephine Voigt Carstensen, Benjamin Jones, Mariana Popescu, Emily Whiting, Adriana Schulz, Daniela Rus, Wojciech Matusik, as well as SIGCHI EC Neha Kumar, Ignacio Avellino, Jerry Fails, and dear ACM staff Shakira Toomer, Diana Brantuas who supported us along the way 🙌

As Knowledge and Intelligence Design, we're halfway through ACM CHI Conference 2026 in Barcelona, and our group has had a packed first half. #CHI2026 Our presentations so far have covered how LLMs and humans differ in recognizing workplace microaggressions, how design futures methods can structure ethical reflection on new technologies, what patient-centered virtual assistants for chronic illness actually look like (and what they're missing), how co-designed intimate care technologies can support cancer survivors' sexual wellbeing, and how the linguistic personality of a chatbot can quietly shape what people decide to donate. On top of that, we've shared tools for anticipating technology's societal footprint, mapped the care journeys of cervical cancer patients in Ethiopia, and co-organized workshops and panels on embodied AI design, empathy in HCI, participatory AI and social justice, bio-digital systems, and agentic automation in organizations. Here's the full list: 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀: • "Are Compliments Bad Now?": Comparing LLMs and Human Interpretations of Gender Microaggressions in the Workplace — Catalina Lagos Rojas, Hüseyin Uğur Genç, Alessandro Bozzon, Sara Colombo • A Taxonomy of Design Futures Processes for Ethical Reflection on Technologies — Francesca Maria Mauri, Alessandro Bozzon, Sara Colombo • Self-management for Chronic Illness: A Scoping Review on Designing Virtual Assistants for Patient-Centered Care — Ariane Lucchini, Alessandro Bozzon, Sara Colombo • Sex after Cancer: Co-Designing Bespoke Care Technologies for Post-Cancer Bodies (Best Paper Award) — Céline Offerman, Francesca Maria Mauri, Alessandro Bozzon, Jacky Bourgeois • The Bots of Persuasion: How Conversational Agents' Linguistic Expressions of Personality Affect User Perceptions and Decisions (Honorable Mention Award) — Hüseyin Uğur Genç, Heng Gu, Chadha Degachi, Evangelos Niforatos, Senthil Chandrasegaran, Himanshu Verma 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: • Tech Footprint Toolkit: Supporting Designers in Anticipating Technology Impact — Sara Colombo, Qiulin Zhu, Kacper Pietrzykowski • Towards Mapping the Problem Space of Cervical Cancer Patients' Journeys in sub-Saharan Africa — Netsanet Mengistie, Himanshu Verma, Alessandro Bozzon, Jan Carel Diehl 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀: • Where is the Body in Designing (Through) AI? — with Iohanna Nicenboim • (Re-)Thinking Empathy's Materiality in HCI — with Alice Vitali, Himanshu Verma • Participatory AI & Social Justice panel — with Alessandro Bozzon • Growing Bio-HCI at CHI — with Katherine W Song • Agentic Automation Experiences — with Garoa Gomez-Beldarrain • Biodesign x AI: Interactions in the Algorithmic Wet Lab panel — with Iohanna Nicenboim We're not done yet. The second half of CHI 2026 Barcelona still has plenty of KInD on the programme. TU Delft | Industrial Design Engineering
