History
Kane FM has evolved from a pirate radio station in the 90s to a not-for-profit community radio station, broadcasting to Guildford and the surrounding area on 103.7 FM and worldwide on www.kanefm.com.
Mission
Kane FM’s mission is to bring great music that’s not often represented on commercial stations – electronic, hip hop, techno, drum & bass, dub, funk & soul, house, roots & culture, to name some – and put the playlists into the hands of the DJs.
Staff
Kane FM is staffed by volunteers, providing a platform for real music, addressing inclusion and engagement of the community, encouraging participation, and providing opportunities for volunteering to improve technical, social, cultural, and artistic skills.
The radio also runs a Youth project MindWaves for 14–25-year-olds with special needs and/or mental health challenges which is grant-funded.
Support
We work hard to raise money to pay the station’s bills. All revenue from advertising, sponsoring, funding appeals and fund-raising events go back into the running of Kane FM and its projects.
