When the writers decide to resurrect a beloved TV programme, it seem to inevitably come to a miserable end, thankfully this time it has worked out better than expected.
Kelsey Grammer is back as the intellectual, bumbling Doctor of Psychology, who, instead of trying to find his one true love, this time we find him trying to navigate a fraught relationship with Freddie, his son.
I was sad to see David Hyde Pierce was missing, but I understood his feelings, why give a lesser performance when you can let the original stand on its own two feet. Alas, John Mahoney is no longer with us, it was so bittersweet to see they named the pub after him.
Jack Cutmore-Scott inhabits the figure of Freddie so well! Combining the love of sports and being a first responder like Martin, he still has the intellect of both his parents!
I was less enthralled with the casting of David, Niles and Daphnes son, hopefully he grows on me by the end of season 1.

11 years after this series wrapped I decided I wanted to finally watch it! Better late than never they say.
After the initial first two episodes I was hooked! The exploits of Alisha, Kelly, Curtis, Simon and the ever annoying Nathan were compelling, mixed with light relief from awkward character interactions!
Then series 4 came round. Overnight we had lost all but one of the original lineup, with some poor excuses as to why characters had disappeared!
Series 5 was an utter waste of time. Disjointed storylines, pointless characters with the most ridiculous powers! If you watch series 1-3, don't bother with 4 or 5! Even Joseph Gilguns Rudy becomes redundant.
