I hope they take the same direction in a sequel as this film did. The Joker should be back and forth as Jack Napier turned against Falcone and driven "batty". According to Gordon "He has a taste for the theatrics" meaning he maybe wears that comedy-tragedy mask of the theatre or make up to disguise himself. Maybe Falcone tried to kill him in a theatre? He should be tough enough & clever enough for Batman to have to use strategy rather than scare tactics like other criminals. Scarecrow also. Maybe Joker can kidnap Dr. Crane. They could fight each other at one point with Batman caught in the middle! Either way, the story should pick up with the mansion nearly rebuilt and the Joker having eluded Batman a couple of times, hence, they already know each other.
Maybe Jack Napier meets Bruce Wayne at a rich function and Catwoman steals some diamond or something that Napier wants. No one sees or catches her till the third movie! Also have neither men knowing the other's alternate persona (except Alfred and maybe Harleyquinn from TV animated?). Either way, it will be a couple of years at least before we see anything. The stuff on the net about the fight scenes---I think they were shot that way on purpose to show how a man dressed in black cannot be seen in a dark alley if he's moving so fast (ninja technique remember?). So stop criticizing the makers and enjoy the film. This isn't a prologue to Tim Burton's 1989 film but a redone version, like the new Battlestar Galactica series. I can put those awful 1990's sequels in repressed memory and go on now.

This series reminds me of the series "Brimstone". Maybe the Wachowski Brothers got the idea from this Matrix series but instead of a supernatural world, they went the "cyber-universe" way with the story? I do think its weird that Carrie-Anne Moss is in a "same title" piece of cinema. Lots of actors have that in common. George Clooney started in a program called "E/R" in 1984, with Elliott Gould in a hospital. Like the drama "ER", it too was in Chicago! It seems as if new stuff is really just old stuff redone differently. Kinda like history. Brimstone seemed a little too familiar when I first saw it and now I think I know why. I don't remember Matrix too much though. Just the "mafioso" feeling of you can't go back now cause you're in too deep. Redemption is a recurring theme and coupled with resurrection seems to work even in Purgatory. Just look at Tek War. One day someone will redo that story!!!
