This animation adaption of the Witcher misses the mark. Geralt is used primarily as a side character in this movie, than the main protagonist. Indeed he is there front and center when it comes time for action scenes otherwise he is a casual bystander. From a storyline standpoint, it is extremely predictable, lacking any real suspense. The voice acting for the most part is flat making each scene just "meh.". The movie is watchable but it certainly isn't memorable. Have writers lost any semblance of creativity ? As for the animation itself? Given today's technology, the animation is mediocre. I had hoped for more for an addition to the Witcher franchise.
It looks like I am in the minority with this series. But this isn't the Penguin. This is merely another gangster series, but put in Gotham. It would be more appropriate to call it the Sopranos in Gotham. I'm quite tired of writers completely rewriting who a comic book character is. Is nothing canon? They can make the actor look like the character, but when the story is completely rewritten, the character is no longer the character. It is someone else. Gotham is a world of superheroes and supervillains, and all of this is essentially absent in the series. On the plus side, the performances are extremely well done. But as a comic book fan, this isn't the Penguin.
I'm not sure how I missed this when it aired on TV. I caught this as a Prime Video recommendation. I wish I would have missed that as well. For starters, the series has a reputable cast. However, that is where anything good about this series ends. Yes, I understand this was made for TV and not the theatre. As such my expectations weren't much. It still manages to fall short of low expectations. Quite a bit of poetic license was taken with the lore of the adventures of Jason. That isn't where the major problems lie. The script is mediocre. The acting is extremely poor even by the best known actors in this movie. The directing is terrible, presenting characters that are flat and uninteresting. The inconsistency of accents is like nails on a chalkboard. So, if you come across this, pass it by.
