Animated documentary on child refugees. The film tells the story of Giancarlo who has no permit to stay in Sweden. He is interviewed and risks being parted from friends and sent out of the country. Through his story we travel to Peru and see the striking contrast between the surroundings he had to flee and his new situation in Sweden. Done effective as you first are surprised by the visuals but then start to listen and the stylized animated character design comes to life. As in David Sproxtons and Peter Lord's Animated Conversations made for BBC, and the the later "Lip Synch"-series Aardman did for Channel 4 in the early nineties, the use of authentic sound and animated imagery proves a strong combination. Gömd/Hidden is sadly no less relevant today than it was ten years ago.
