I didn't see any of the Billy Jack films when they were first released. The "radical " political sentiments they portrayed were all over the landscape at the time and frankly it was easy to see these films as low budget quickie productions that didn't bring much of anything new to the screen. But time and maturity has polished this little gem for me and made it an all time favorite of mine.Being far removed from the distracting circus of them there times, I can now see the value this film brings to the camera light. Basically its this- THE ENEMY IS US!. Get it? there is no other to cause you grief.not really. you got it .OK,lets try again with this new villain. OK, he's gone. are your problems? not really. OK, get it this way -into the desert and stay there by yourself till you do! See whats up when you look IN Billy Jack . Your temper tantrums and fists flying from self pitying justifications wont't still that nagging threat that made you take up martial arts in the first place old bro'. get it? OK, then back to self we go.This is what turned it around for me so why not thee Billy Jack et all. A very enjoyable film that gives a lot if you're patient and don't demand too much.add a couple of stars if you were there.

This film has in it the formula for every successful film ever made: Overcoming opposition to one's faith in God with determination and perseverance in a goal you believe is your preordained mission in life. When has this been seen FULLY expressed ,as it was here ,in any movies since LOTF? This movie leaves a legacy that we should all treasure and never forget.God grants us the strength to continue when all others fail us.I saw this movie as a young child in a small theater in Plainview N.Y. when it was first released. Lili Skala, who played Mother Superior, made a guest appearance after the show and was received very warmly by the full house. Quite exciting for an 8-yr old kid-and on a school night no less!

This movie literally stopped me in my tracks while it was on the TV and i was moving my furniture out of my apartment! Its that good .I found the scope and breath of not only the production but the story to be a real delight. The uneven sound quality (remember this 1930) -actors turning away from the microphone and becoming mute, the fact that many of the old-timers acting in this movie were actually plains people and had lived amongst the very type of people they were portraying gave this film a unique feel of authenticity. The Duke even comes off as a real actor in this first rate oater. How he didn't become a star for 9 more years is a real mystery. All in all a must see!!
