In a lot of ways this is great stuff. The Sakka character is better than the origin -- more person and less silly comic relief. The series is **perfectly** cast, right from Aang on through the rest. Where it falls a little short is in some of the details, but they still did a pretty good job of turning a whole lot of cartoon into many fewer episodes. Compressing a detailed story into a significantly shorter time has got to be quite hard, but they managed to pull it off without losing too much. They did a great job with flying creatures, scenery, costumes, and special effects. This is soooo much better than that sucky movie that was so badly casted and scripted. The bottom line is that I enjoyed it completely, and I can't wait for season two!!
I read a reviews that said Squid Game season 2 lost its edge. I don't think that was a fair assessment. The first season of Squid Game was amazing and so original. Part of the reason the show was exciting is because it was so unique. With season 2, we know what to expect, so naturally season 2 is going to be less intriguing. I did really enjoy the first episode with the bread and lottery ticket game. The second episode felt kind of like a filler episode to me. I enjoyed the new characters and the new games were pretty cool! Unfortunately, only 2 new games were introduced. I wish there would have been more games with the same intensity as stepping stones or tug of war. With that said, the new games were exciting to watch and mingle was completely savage. However, there was entirely too much time spent voting. I was completely over it. There was one nice surprise twist at the end, which I really enjoyed! The season finale was exciting and entirely satisfying! Overall, I thought the second season was great.
Ah, Macondo! I first read Gabriel García Márquez's magnificent novel One Hundred Years of Solitude in my early twenties, and it has remained one of my favorite books to this day. So, I was excited when I heard it was being adapted into a series, and this adaptation did not disappoint. With as much lyricism as the original novel, it presents its strange obsessions without reservation. The story stays true to the book, where magic blends with everyday life, and the fable intertwines with the country's history- all set in a small village with grand ideas, spanning over hundred years. I can't wait to see the second part!
