Honestly...America needs to stop trying to redo Japanese films, because they're making them suck. Let us just stick with the actual versions and read the subtitles it's way better. Speaking of Asian films if Hollywood tries to redo Battle Royale, I quit. They'll ruin a good film. Luckily I used to work at a movie theater so I was able to see this for free and didn't waste ten bucks on it, I did however, waste two hours of my time I could have spent watching something good. Who puts together a film like this? Honestly! I normally don't bash films even crappy straight to DVD movies, but the fact that a movie with millions of dollars spent on it and sent to theaters could be this crappy really bothers me. How could a director put his name on a movie like this with a straight face?
I don't want to join anyone's argument by commenting I just want to say what I thought of the movie. The movie shocked me. It shocked the straight *beep* out of me. Yes kids are innocent, and they hold the keys for the future of the world. It's respectable that Becky Fisher sees that. Yes I believe in God, but the God I believe in isn't one who makes little kids weep. I definitely don't feel that Becky Fisher is going about this the right way. Yes the world is a *beep*y place sometimes, but you can't take children, little children, and expose them to how crappy it is. They have to learn it on their own. You should find God on your own, maybe with some help, but not a camp where people are speaking in tongues and you are made to cry. It's awful. It scares me so much. Those kids seemed like sweet kids, nice kids, like the little girl approaching the woman in the bowling alley, but...some of this stuff is just down right terrifying.
Again...Stephen King goes into the darkest and scariest thoughts about society today. I'm still thinking, "Wow." There were parts of this movie that drove me crazy, like when they wouldn't run out of the freaking pharmacy...I was so angry. But other parts like the insanity that fear places in people. The religious cult that bloomed in the wake of terror, the ending! Oh my GOD the ending, (yes I saw it coming) but what a kick in the nuts! ( I won't spoil it for you.) Please, if you are a deep thinker and enjoy the macabre, go see this movie. If your looking for the usual crap that Hollywood gives us...then don't go see it. I still can't get over how screwed in the head King is.
