Now that the entire cast of Eve's Christmas has written glowing reviews, here comes the only honest review of the bunch: Worst. Movie. Ever. Additionally, the lead actress is terrible, with constant mugging and facial contortions. Cheryl Ladd is the best thing about this clunker. She is quite believable and in no way overacts like the father and brother and the rest of the cast. The storyline is wholly unbelievable and I could not suspend my disbelief because of the poor, over the top acting and terrible script. The scenes with the "French" designer was not to be believed. I did not understand the bit with the papers behind the curtain and the dancing, etc. Finally, Christmas plays very little role in Eve's Christmas. It serves only as an unimportant backdrop to the storyline.
After reading all the glowing reviews on this site for this movie I wonder if I saw the same movie. To me it was little more than a made for TV movie shown on the Lifetime channel on a Sunday afternoon. First of all, the plot and lives of the characters did not ring true. We saw the mother at work once. We never saw the daughter going to school, yet she stayed out all night at the casino. The mother let her daughter meet people from the internet? The dialogue was stilted and the acting was bad. The mother asked "What?" several times. That was annoying. I cringed at the performances of Vicky, Grandma, Lois, and Lois' husband. The movie dragged on and on. Oh, well. Such is life.
This was not a good movie. Tea Leoni never closed her mouth in the movie...it just kind of hangs opened...slack jawed. Her reaction shots makes her look like she is giving the evil eye. I could not suspend my belief for this movie...I didn't buy one minute of the premise. Why was she the only one with a thick accent? Don't answer. I already know the answer. Don't bother with this one. Hope this helps.
