This somewhat slick, somewhat trashy series compiles footage and testimony from world war two archives and participants. There are flashy graphics throughout, which don't quite work, however it could just be the general flow of the script that is the issue. This script seems to be aimed at an American audience, it sensationalises serious issues that need no hype and flows really badly. The subtitles are not exact translations, it's a bit all over the place. Despite all the criticism, it's mostly watchable and informative. Some of the footage, particularly accounts from soldiers is deeply moving, there are many good points about this series, it's just far from perfect.
One of the worst shows on the box. A disjointed, pointless cast flounder, propped up by nothing but their large egos. Even eye candy Maya Jama cannot save this lame duck that has somehow managed to be commissioned for more than one series. It's challenging to fill the review section with sufficient characters as this show is so unremarkable. It's difficult to understand why some people, all be it a minority, absolutely love this dreadful mish mash of a show. There's no accounting for taste. Compared to previous shows that embrace urban culture "don't hate the playaz" simply doesn't stand up. It has zero substance or insight, essentially, it's got absolutely nothing going for it.
The cast is first class and perform miracles to make this incredibly poorly written historical drama somewhat compelling.
Zoe Boyle is outstanding as Grace, were it not for her I doubt I'd have lasted more than a few episodes. The cast are excellent, the direction spot on. Frontier, has everything going for it, except the script. It's terrible, as if it's written by a child. The dialogue is fine, however, the plot is simplistic, nonsensical and lets the entire production down. One of the most irritating aspects is Momoa's characters name "Declan Harp" - I'm not aware of a person alive who's name is "Harp".
