I've given it a 5. Great story, good actors, tons of action.

Topical, cult goes bonkers, not uncommon in the States.

So. Why a 5?

Well this has been badly let down by the worst cinematography I've ever seen in my life.

It is a difficult watch on the eyes. Silly out of focus, shaky camera work.

Stupid out of focus colour, my head hurt after an hour, yet I wanted to see how it played out.

Why all the flashing lights?

Silly colour surround of characters?

Not needed.

Trying to be 'clever' with arty light effects doesn't make this film more watchable.

Real shame.

It's Star Trek, Jim. But not as we know it.

Trying to go the way of Star Wars with countless spin offs just isn't working for Star Trek.

This was pretty poor. It's even more strange in that Yeoh is such a watchable actress/actor. She tried to carry this, but it just didn't work.

I've watched Star Trek since the 60's and just about managed to get through Discovery. This spin off of a spin off is so thin on story line, poor characters, nonsense storyline I can't understand why it was even made.

The special effects just about made it watchable, but in the end, I just didn't care what happened, why it happened, and to who.
