I finally got around to watching this film on Amazon Prime, and what started off as a promising story ended up being confused and boring. The setup had a lot of potential, and the back-and-forth storyline format was initially interesting, but it soon became extremely annoying and confusing.
The final match, along with all the flashbacks and random scenes involving the three main characters, really tests your patience. You feel nothing for any of them, and the dynamics between these characters hold no emotional weight. The final match drags on unnecessarily, with slow-motion shots that slow down the entire buildup, ending in a complete dud!

The film is is nicely shot with some good complementary background music that keeps you interested for most parts.
After the start the director gets you invested into the characters, their lives and backstories but talk about a complete nosedive in the second half. These beautifully setup characters and situations are absolutely squandered by some poor writing. The cops are all corrupt, the honest ones barely do anything useful and the killer helps them out by confessing everything and more without any pressure.
Direction, background music, casting are very impressive for most parts. Vikram M tries hard but is badly miscast. The biggest drawback is the writing in the second half and the lack of closure by the end which leaves you extremely annoyed.

Finally watched Trap today and it seems like Shyamalan was only making this film to give his daughter main stream coverage.
Like all his films this one also has a thin thread it hangs on to for dear life. Logic and scenes are so amateurishly written that you wonder if it was even written by someone who understands the basics of story and screenplay.
Things keep conveniently happening just to drag the film along pointlessly from one scene to another.
Thanks to some decent performances the film is even bareable but there are some serious holes in the logic of almost everything.
I am sure this film must have been a financial success given the budget but talk about Shyamalan diluting his brand with every new film he makes.
